We Signed a Contract Before We Were Born

We Signed a Contract Before We Were Born

Torah in Verse – Torah portion- Nitzavim
(Deuteronomy – 29:9-30:20)

We signed a contract before we were born
Into this life; we did so at Sinai.
In accepting the Covenant, it meant
Accepting the light of morality

By which to take our income tax of the soul
Every day with each thought, word and deed.
Knowing, together, we are a sum of all parts;
That life is sacred, precious for all.

Thus, conduct ourselves as scribes, messengers,
Spokespersons, with not a word more, or less
Than those which flow from the Covenant.
Do we live up to the Covenant?

It is for our link with the Divine
Our conscience to respond.
