We Will Do and We Will Hear: How the Jewish People Learned the Secret of the Angels

Imagine you were a slave. Imagine that you were brutalized when you were a slave.

Now imagine you’re set free by a very generous person. And that person fed you, clothed you, protected you, and guided you.

Then imagine that same person said, “let’s make a contract whereby you become my servant, my slave.” But the person does not show the terms and conditions of the contract.

What would you do? What should you do?

You should say, “I appreciate all the help you gave me. You are a great person. But I am not falling into any traps unless I read the contract first. If I like it, I will sign. If not, nice knowing you.”

And this is exactly what happened at Mount Sinai.

G-d had freed us, liberated us, fought for us, wrought tremendous miracles for us, fed us, protected us, and guided us.

And then G-d said, “I have a contract I want you to sign.” And just before G-d even said, “please read the fine print”, We, the Jewish People, all said, in one voice, “WE WILL DO AND WE WILL HEAR.” Which means we will become your servants, your slaves because we know YOU are G-d, YOU are Good, YOU are Truth! We will sign the Torah contract and then we will learn what and how we are required to fulfill Your 613 commandments.”

At that moment the Midrash tells us G-d said, “Who taught Man the secret of the Angels. Only the Angels speak like this.”

And this is the secret of the JEWISH PEOPLE. We who are known to be very astute in making deals love, admire and desire G-d so much that we did not ask any questions but rather said, “We want to be YOUR SERVANTS, YOUR SLAVES, BECAUSE YOU ARE G-D, YOU ARE THE HOLY, THE TRUTH, THE GOOD, THE KIND.”

And in so doing We acted like the Angels. Because even though the Angels are so powerful, they do as G-d says.

G-D HAS MADE US AN ETERNAL PEOPLE SO THAT EVEN ATHEISTS AND EVOLUTIONISTS CANNOT EXPLAIN OUR SURVIVAL AND THRIVING!

THANK G-D, WE MADE THE RIGHT DECISION!
