What Brought Me Here
This is the first time I have written a blog post in my entire life. Although I have extensive writing experience, it hasn’t ever had a wide audience before now, which is both thrilling and nerve-wracking at the same time. It is my hope that what I share here, my thoughts and analyses, serve to inform the larger conversation on the issues facing our modern world.
As such, I want to let all of you, my readers, know a little bit about myself and my background. I was born and raised by a Jewish mother and a Christian father, neither of whom I can ever remember mentioning their respective religions. It was an entirely secular, extremely happy upbringing for me, as an only child who received all of the love and attention of his family.
Only when I went to college and became involved in Hillel did my burgeoning interest in Judaism begin. I have since had the great good fortune to meet and get to know several giants in the Jewish world, who influenced me and set me on the path of discovery on which I continue to this day. Thank you to all of you who have helped me to identify and create my Jewish identity.
From now on, my posts here will deal with the wisdom of Jewish comedians, philosophers, and religious leaders. I will be applying this wisdom to problems that I am currently facing in my life, as well as conflicts that plague the world at large. Most of all, I am thrilled to engage in intelligent, productive conversation on the state of our world. We all have a responsibility to contribute our unique, God-given gifts and talents. Mine is my writing.
I can’t wait to see where this journey takes us.
