This may seem a silly question. Of course it would be better to see the US embassy open in Jerusalem. That’s a diplomatic milestone of unknown proportion.
True. But I want to address what Israeli Jews feel. The embassy would eventually open in Jerusalem anyway. And it can be moved away again also. And also without the move, US President Trump wants to show that he’s our friend and wrap up the “ultimate deal,” peace in the Middle East. And that’s what counts. But most importantly, where the Jerusalem embassies are is the responsibilities of the nations of the world. They should lose sleep over that – not us.
But we are troubled over Jonathan Pollard not being here. Our family is not complete while he’s in exile. We would vote for Jonathan.
Besides, the embassy move angers they whole world that’s critical towards Israel – and that is almost everyone. But the release of Pollard, who cares about that but us and a few anti-Semites? It’s a free present. It will cost Trump nothing.
I’m writing this because with the best of intentions Trump may have thought that the most disputed and historically largest gift would please us most. And we are pleased – believe me – but family comes first.
If it’s not too much to ask: Please send us Pollard – today. If you want a specific day: Let him leave the US on Purim (February 28, sundown – March 1, sundown) and enter Jerusalem on Shushan Purim (March 1 sundown – March 2, the eve of Shabbat). Most obliged.
