What Was the REAL Plan here?

There’s been a lot of talk about Greta Thunberg and her flotilla for “humanitarian aid.” For those unaware, Greta and a bunch of others were on a yacht bound for Gaza with the official purpose of breaking the Israeli blockade and delivering humanitarian aid to the Gazan people. The Israelis intercepted the yacht and wouldn’t allow it into the territorial waters because it was too dangerous and would set a bad precedent. That blockade was to block weapons and not food or supplies which are being provided by Israel anyway. Israelis boarded the boat yesterday, gave food and water to Greta and the others with her, and brought them to Israel to send them back to their home countries. Israel did the right thing here and I stand by that no matter what Greta and her cohorts claim.

Having said that, this whole thing leaves unanswered questions. 

Anyone with functioning brains knows that this whole thing was a publicity stunt and nothing more. When the Israelis went on board the boat, they found a lot of publicity equipment such as cameras and phones, only a small amount of food (not enough to fill even one truck) and no other supplies such as medicines, bandages, diapers, etc. So we know that they weren’t planning to help all that much. And considering how little food there was, my guess is that they weren’t planning to go home by way of that boat.

My question is this: what was the real plan here? 

Were the organizers and adults on this boat planning to be intercepted by Israelis? Were they hoping for a skirmish? Did they want to get photos and make the Israelis out to be the villains who won’t let “humanitarian aid” into Gaza? As it is, there was no skirmish so they’re claiming that the Israelis kidnapped them. That’s a LAUGH- kidnapping them only to give them decent food (kosher, by the way) and water and to send them home to their families with no exchange demands. Plus, it’s obnoxious compared with the real kidnap victims who are still languishing in Gaza after over 600 days. 

But supposing that they had succeeded in getting into Gaza? Supposing the Israelis did let them in for their stunt? What were they planning then? To just give out what little food they had with them and photograph it for publicity? Or did the adults have something more sinister in mind? They knew that they were going into a war zone where someone could get hurt. Were they planning to use Greta as a human shield and martyr? Were any of them planning to get out of there at all? There wasn’t a lot of food on that flotilla to begin with so what were they planning for their trip home? 

Were they planning for Israeli interception so that they would have a safe way out with food for the trip home? Or were they planning for a sensational escape from Gaza? Or were they planning martyrdom with no plan to go home?

And did Greta know about what was planned? Did the adults give her instructions for what to do if the Israelis intercepted the boat? Did she have instructions for what to do if her group succeeded in getting into Gaza? Was she given any precautions to take for her own safety? If they were planning to use her as a human shield and martyr, did they tell her? Did she know that she might get injured or killed and was she prepared for that? Or were those adults just using her as a pawn without telling her?

I don’t know if we’ll ever know the answers here. Not unless someone tells the truth. And even then, there are still people who won’t believe it. 

That said, I hope that Greta gets home safely and is intercepted there by adults who genuinely care about her and can help her find better goals for herself than to be a pawn in a publicity stunt.
