Five on the 100 aliyah from UK list!

Who is minding the shop?

ww.israelhayom.co.il.corona!     Who indeed ?  Mr Adelson now we also know, that we will get our instructions from your publication and that’s fine.

Are you doing the same maybe for the population in the USA. Do we need to thank you?

I suppose I should be happy that both Adelson and my Prime Minister are looking out for me? I wonder who is going to be the first oligarch to announce publicly what he intends to give in gratitude to the safe haven, known as the land of Israel?  Maybe the father of the wife of the one who is at the moment the focus of so much attention in the Knesset?

In the UK too they have oligarchs, it will be interesting to see whether they dig down into their pockets?

There’s not much talk about the F.S.U  I wonder are they coping with Corona?  It will be interesting to know.  A people who finally threw off the yolk of communism  they will probably not take kindly to “control” but on the other hand its not a stranger.

During the years under their strict communist regime they were not allowed to leave the country  unless they were on  State business. That included representative groups of sportsmen, ballet dancers and musicians, who were accompanied by their KGB guards.

These days they also travel the world  more chance to get CORONA. I often have visitors from there, some of whom are being treated at  the Assouta Medical Centre, considered to be the best, this side of the globe.

These days I like everyone else in the hospitality business have no visitors, only cancellations.I miss that, living alone can get tedious.

So, today its the last day that we are officially allowed out of the house.

As a very old person I have lived through almost every kind of situation but agree, never anything quite like this.Despite the loss of freedom of movement  as one could say, I am so grateful for the kindness and attention I am getting both from the family and my neighbours’.

Tal, my eldest great grandson just called to see how I am doing. His mother did not even know! It was so comforting, because these days one wonders if the youngster’s are aware that  not only do we exist, but that we love to be with them. We also have a link called “Shabbat Shalom”  for the immediate family overseas and that too keeps us in touch. Only this time its not about “are you in any danger” ? Corona has caused us all to feel susceptible. We are all at war.

On the other hand, with the present unstable political system  here, they may do well to worry.

So with too much time to think and not enough sport or other physical activity of which to partake, I am dancing. Yes, around the apartment and with all the windows open so those outside can hear the music.

I have discovered a compact disc which I am playing full volume on my balcony hoping that others will dance too.  My  friend  Hadas Fisher gave it to me  about 8 years ago. She then left for Berlin where she introduced the idea of trans-formative dance. Fortunately for us all, she is now back in Israel with her family.

So  at least I feel that I have communicated with the outside world in a small way.

Just now I ventured out on my buggy and actually shopped for myself, with mask on face and a disinfectant spray at hand! I bought too much food but, it is like living under siege whichever way one looks at it.

On a final note, I have a friend here from the British Army. He arrived a few weeks ago as a volunteer for MDA.  Corona arrived and he is still here doing great work for our citizens. On the downside we haven’t been able to do any of the fun things we planned for.

He loves Israel, it is not his first visit, but as a Brit was in absolute shock when he heard the reason that one of our most outstanding presenters on TV Lucy Alcharish had been sacked from Kan One. He was not alone.

Wishing well to all of those wonderful people  all over Israel who are serving this stricken land daily and  to all of our people who are keeping their heads.

Even if as the saying goes”May you live in interesting times” a little less interesting and a lot  MORE MEANINGFUL! would suffice.
