If you watched last night’s New York gubernatorial debate between incumbent Kathy Hochul and Republican candidate Bruce Blakeman there was only one clear winner and that is none other than Bruce Blakeman. Supporters of Republican challenger and Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman clearly see that he is a better choice than Democratic incumbent Governor Kathy Hochul due to his alternative approaches to economic policy, law enforcement, and energy production. During their high-profile debate, the contrasting platforms highlighted why voters favoring a conservative shift see him as the stronger leader for the state.

In the 2026 New York gubernatorial campaign, Republican challenger Bruce Blakeman has positioned himself as tougher on antisemitism than Democratic incumbent Kathy Hochul by executing a highly aggressive, security-focused strategy aimed at courting Jewish voters who clearly see that he is the much better option. Blakeman heavily criticized Hochul for what he termed a failure to adequately protect Jewish students from “professional protesters” who occupied Columbia University, harassed the Jewish students  and blocked city roadways. He has pledged a stronger policing response to lawlessness targeting Jewish communities. Blakeman has centered much of his campaign on aggressively countering antisemite, terror supporter and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, whom Blakeman accuses of rolling back antisemitism protections and harboring anti-Israel bias.
Blakeman has warned Jewish leaders that leadership under Mamdani and Hochul leaves Jewish institutions vulnerable to rioting, asserting that Hochul doesn’t have the backbone or desire to step in, whereas he would actively use executive gubernatorial powers to intervene. In January 2026, Blakeman publicly demanded that New York State fully adopt the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism, blasting Hochul for her perceived resistance to codifying the definition into state law. As the Jewish Nassau County Executive, Blakeman frequently references his own faith to establish a direct connection with the community. He has been uncompromisingly blunt, straightforward and honest in his rhetoric, which included labeling a Jewish congressional candidate who criticized Israel’s war in Gaza as antisemitic, signaling to his base that he will not hesitate to use severe language against political opponents on this issue.
Regarding domestic policies, supporters favor Blakeman’s aggressive proposals to lower New York’s high cost of living. His platform includes specific tax cuts aimed at low- and middle-income families, such as completely eliminating state income taxes for single filers earning under $50,000 and joint filers earning under $100,000. For specific details regarding his property tax relief platform, consult official campaign statements and local election portals. Blakeman’s base criticizes Hochul for rising energy prices and her handling of utility rate hikes. To bring down electricity and gas bills—with a stated goal of cutting electric bills in half—Blakeman advocates for a complete reversal of the state’s current energy policies. He argues that expanding the supply of natural gas production is the most viable path to making New York economically competitive and lowering utility costs. To verify his stance on specific energy proposals, such as state fracking regulations, refer to official election policy guides.
A central element of Blakeman’s appeal to his supporters is his tough-on-crime stance and his opposition to “sanctuary state” policies, which he attributes to Hochul. Blakeman strongly advocates for local police departments to work hand-in-hand with federal immigration authorities. He highlights his record in Nassau County, stating that local cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) allowed authorities to deport over 2,000 undocumented immigrants with criminal records without disrupting community centers, schools, or churches. He argues that Hochul’s policy to ban formal cooperation between local police and ICE compromises public safety and makes it significantly harder for law enforcement to detain dangerous individuals.

Having met both candidates in the past in NYC, I am 100% convinced that Bruce Blakeman is a superior choice and am aligned with his goals of reducing government intervention in the energy sector, executing sweeping tax cuts, and establishing closer alignment with federal law enforcement to manage immigration and crime. Most importantly, he will have a zero tolerance policy regarding antisemitism and will always stand with the Jewish people and the Nation of Israel.
