Why I abhor missionary activity in Israel

In the clip, the voiceover claims that they are the watchmen on Israel’s walls. I would call their channel: OCKNOB: Our chutzpah knows no bounds.

It’s nice to be open-minded, but not at the expense of others. It’s pure egotism to say, missionary activism on the Jews doesn’t disturb me. How nice that you are safe but care a bit for others who are prone to deceit. Jews notoriously flip between being paranoid and being completely naive. You don’t want the most innocent under us to give up their holy tradition.

Saying that you welcome a fair competition between Christian doctrine and the Jewish tradition is like saying to dentists that we don’t have to warn people against eating sugar all day. Just welcome the competition between sugar and whole-wheat bread. That’s equally ridiculous.

On top of that, Christians are with 2 billion people against 20 million Jews. The economic and man-power of the latter dwarf in comparison. And we Jews already need to battle antisemitism all day long, as a State (still no peace), online, in the street, in the UN, and the list goes on. And we should welcome Christians attacking us too (claiming to save us)? Absurd.

Further, Jews from outside of Israel are used to defending themselves against false claims and enticing advertisements by Christians. But Israeli Jews don’t define themselves in contrast to others. It is like introducing new microbes into a population. You can’t say that any healthy group can deal with them. They have no immunity at all yet. It’s going to be a graveyard.

Many Christian missionaries targeting Jews often don’t just promote an alternative ethical worldview. They employ pure deceit with claims that one could easily serve both G’d and the Baal. Some go so far to posit that the most complete form of authentic Judaism is reached when you add Jesus to the mix. And they often aim at Jews who are in great distress and who are weak in their Judaism. This is all pure deceit and falsehood. We should respect all ethical worldviews but not immorality and deception. [I don’t know if you can see it. The guy speaking in the opening clip, I see that he’s untruthful. He has a little smirk around his lips. Look carefully.]

One wonders how people can claim to have respect (or even love) for Jews and a wish to support Jews and still aim to un-Jew them. It’s like saying to your partner, I love you from the bottom of my heart with all my soul and please change your character, go for plastic surgery, talk differently …

Trying to convert Jews is ethnic cleansing. It’s genocide. It’s finishing Hitler’s work. But … it’s not only a danger to the People under siege; it is also a great shame on the people who support this. I am still waiting for a majority of Christians to actively oppose missionary activity on the Jews, just like a majority of Germans is ardently against racism and antisemitism.

The best reason for Jews to stay away from Christianity is its attempt to convert Jews. It’s so disgusting — who would want anything to do with such immorality? I like Christianity for Gentiles but something is rotten in the State of Denmark. I hope a vast majority of Christians will soon change that. I’m not talking about certain streams disavowing missionary activity on the Jews. I’m talking about active opposition against it and talking to converted Jews (with love and warmth) to try to have them return home.

It’s a scandal that some Christians first rob us of Jews, and then we need to bring them back. First we are robbed and then we need to spend energy to regain our fellows. Are there then no Christians who know of repentance?

He taught Re-evaluation Co-counseling, became a social activist, became religious, made Aliyah, and raised three wonderful kids. He wrote an unpublished tome about Jewish Free Will. He's a strict vegan since 2008. He's an Orthodox Jew but not a rabbi. * His most influential teachers (chronologically) are: his parents, Nico (natan) van Zuiden and Betty (beisye) Nieweg, Wim Kan, Mozart, Harvey Jackins, Marshal Rosenberg, Reb Shlomo Carlebach, and, lehavdil bein chayim lechayim: Rabbi Dr. Natan Lopes Cardozo, Rav Zev Leff, and Rav Meir Lubin. * Previously, for decades, he was known to the Jerusalem Post readers as a frequent letter writer. For a couple of years, he wrote hasbara for the Dutch public. His fields of attention now are varied: Psychology (including Sexuality and Abuse), Medicine (including physical immortality), Science (statistics), Politics (Israel, the US and the Netherlands, Activism - more than leftwing or rightwing, he hopes to highlight Truth), Oppression and Liberation (intersectionally, for young people, the elderly, non-Whites, women, workers, Jews, LGBTQIA, foreigners and anyone else who's dehumanized or exploited), Integrity, Philosophy, Jews (Judaism, Zionism, Holocaust and Jewish Liberation), Ecology and Veganism. Sometimes he's misunderstood because he has such a wide vision that never fits any specialist's box. But that's exactly what many love about him. Many of his posts relate to affairs from the news or the Torah Portion of the Week or are new insights that suddenly befell him. * He hopes that his words will inspire and inform, reassure the doubters but make the self-assured doubt more. He strives to bring a fresh perspective rather than bore you with the obvious. He doesn't expect his readers to agree. Rather, original minds must be disputed. In short, his main political positions are: anti-Trumpism, for Zionism, Intersectionality, non-violence, democracy, anti the fake peace process, for original-Orthodoxy, Science, Free Will, anti blaming-the-victim and for down-to-earth optimism. Read his blog how he attempts to bridge any discrepancies. He admits sometimes exaggerating to make a point, which could have him come across as nasty, while in actuality, he's quite a lovely person to interact with. He holds - how Dutch - that a strong opinion doesn't imply intolerance of other views. * His writing has been made possible by an allowance for second-generation Holocaust survivors from the Netherlands. It has been his dream since he was 38 to try to make a difference by teaching through writing. He had three times 9-out-of-10 for Dutch at his high school finals but is spending his days communicating in English and Hebrew - how ironic. G-d must have a fine sense of humor. In case you wonder - yes, he is a bit dyslectic. November 13, 2018, he published his 500th blog post with the ToI. If you're a native English speaker and wonder why you should read from people whose English is only their second language, consider the advantage of having a peek outside of your cultural bubble. * NEW: To see other blog posts by him, his overspill blog you can reach by clicking on the Website icon next to his picture at the head of every post. There you may find precursors to later TOI blog posts, addition or corrections of published TOI blog posts, blog posts the TOI will not carry, and some thoughts that are too short to be a TOI blog post. Also, the TOI only allows for one blog post per blogger per 24 hours.
