Why Is Iran’s Terrorist Propaganda Still Online?

Iran, an Islamic dictatorship, funds terrorist groups that oppose the West – including Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, and the Houthis. All of these groups are fueled by morally bankrupt values, which give themselves credence to mass-murder, rape and take hostage innocent civilians – as they did on October 7th.
Just this week, the UK re-joined America in a bombing campaign against the Iran-backed Houthis, who have been attacking ships passing through the Red Sea, effectuating an ‘almost 300% increase’ on Asia-Europe shipping costs, and according to the UK Defense Secretary, have ‘cost billions’.
In many ways, the Iranian regime operates in an exact contrast to Western values. In Iran, freedom for women, minority groups, religions and political dissidents are severely limited.
With this mind, we should be very careful as to what Iran release online – right?
The dictator of Iran, the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khameni, has a propaganda website that, in English, promotes Hamas’ actions. Shortly after the horrific October 7th attack, he wrote on the website that that ‘the blow that the Zionist regime received is irreparable’ and ‘the Zionist regime is desperate and confused now’.
On other separate pages, the website calls for Israel to be ‘eliminated from the region’, describes Hamas as ‘resistance forces’ and that the only way to solve the Gaza issue is through ‘resistance’.
This website, written is in English, is clearly terrorist propaganda – yet, is live and widely accessible. After Russia invaded Ukraine, the UK government banned Russia Today, a state-backed media outlet, for spreading propaganda. Why haven’t they done the same for Iran’s website?
