Why Israel Has to Exist

Why do you constantly fight for the State of Israel?

Many people ask me that question on a daily basis. They understand the importance of it but ask why it’s so important to me. I could list one hundred reasons, or even two hundred, or a thousand if you had that kind of time. But I use today, Holocaust Remembrance Day, to give you one of those reasons.

A man by the name of Adolf Hitler decided it was his mission to rid the earth of “impure” human beings which happened to include Jews. What resulted from the disgusting views of this man is the death of six million Jews. Six million of our brothers and sisters were murdered because of their religion.

Adolf Hitler is one of the infinite reasons that the State of Israel needs to exist. The death of six million Jews cannot go unseen. Their deaths need to mean something. I can’t turn a blind eye on their sacrifice.

Israel is not just a country. Israel is not just a country surrounded by enemies. Israel is not just an innovator. Israel is not just a beautiful place. Israel is the home for the Jewish people.

After thousands of years of Jewish presence in the land of Israel, it is nothing but obvious that I will spend every breath fighting for it. After regime after regime turned their backs on us, oppressed us, and murdered us when we became inconvenient throughout the course of history, it is nothing but obvious that I will spend every breath fighting for it. After six million Jews were systematically murdered because of their religion and belief in our one true God, it is nothing but obvious that I will spend every breath fighting for it.

Anti-semitism is on the rise just as it was when Hitler declared us dirty Jews that needed to be wiped from the face of the earth. Jews in Europe can’t walk to synagogue on Shabbat with their kippah on without fear for their life. Synagogue’s and cemeteries in the U.S. are being destroyed and defaced with swastikas every other week.

I ask you one simple question that no one would have been able to answer before May 14, 1948. Where can these Jews go?

The State of Israel.

The only home for the Jewish people. The only country on this planet that ensures citizenship for Jews, wherever they may come from. The country that holds our history. The country where our fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and our mothers, Sarah, Rebecca, Leah, and Rachel, walked before us.

Six million died, but millions more will live on because of the existence of the State of Israel.

Does that answer your question?
