A short response to lies about October 7

The anti-Israel argument is based on either or both of two fundamental claims:

The first is that beginning in the 1870s non-resident Jews arrived in the Turkish governed land that became the Palestine Mandate and proceeded to threaten or kill resident Arabs and drove them off land their families had lived on for perhaps a 1000 years and this trend gained strength and continued into 1948 when it culminated in the Nakba, the aftermath of the War instituted by Israel to complete the destruction of the Palestinian people by driving near a million of them out of the Mandate.

The second is that the 1967 War was engineered by Israel to complete the destruction of a hope for a Palestinian State by conquering the West Bank and subjugating and humiliating the residual Palestinian Arabs. The justified consequence of these 2 actions is rage among the Arabs which culminated in the rise of Hamas and the October 7 attacks, attacks which are claimed not to have been barbarous, the latter a lie promulgated by Israel.

Neither of these 2 claims is true.

Jews arriving in the 1870s settled on land with the OK of the Turkish authorities, and later bought the land from the owners, the deeds again legitimate as per historical recordings. Savagery was from the Arabs against the Jews, note the Jerusalem riots beginning in 1920, the Hebron pogrom of 1929, the riots and murders of the 1930s. Even after the separation from the Mandate of Jordan, the Arabs were offered about 75% of the residual Mandate by the Peel Commission in 1938 which they rejected, and about 50% by the UN in 1947 which they again rejected. The 1948 War was started by Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria to eradicate the Jews of the Mandate, and the victory of the 600,000 Jews against these odds a miracle. Arabs left or were driven from land Israel took in a defensive War, and whereas tiny Israel then accepted some 800,000 Jews forced from Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Tunisia, Libya, Morocco, Algeria, those countries refused to accept the displaced Arabs.

The 1967 war was the result of Israel launching a preemptive strike against Egypt, Syria, and Jordan whose massed Armies were open about their imminent plans to wipe Israel off the map. The subsequent “3 noes” response of the Arabs to peace with Israel is what led to today’s mess. Note that the Arabs “unfortunate” to have remained in Israel in 1948 are now among the most prosperous and best educated of Arabs and are 20% of the Israeli population. They are integrated into Israeli politics and education.

Hamas has been in political control of Gaza since 2006. Jews do not live there. Read Hamas’ Mission Statement if you want to know what it has in mind for Jews. And those barbarisms, yes, they happened, and they make the Nazis small actors in that world.
