A Woman of valor; who can find? (Proverbs 31)

What is in the Mom idea?

You can’t purchase one at any Ikea

or can’t buy one who is discounted on line

or can’t buy at Target.com that looks real fine

But you can find a way to find a hook

to reel in her caring and compassionate look

by deciding that no one is perfectly made

and understanding what is permissible or forbade

There are lines drawn that we take upon ourselves later

than sooner according to any seasoned debater

Even if lines seem to blur in the years

there’s always going back to relinquishing those fears

of what never happened that you read in your books

or from those not understood quizzical looks

because deep down, when it all boils down

your mother did birth you, then safe and sound

and you were a gift from Gd delivered to her

to bring you to Earth, you are needed, concur

so even if bullies or you, those who rejected

just remember dear Gd has you protected

because Gd chose to present you as today’s deal

and you can bet that Gd planned this, you’re for real

so then your chosen Mom was for you, the one to teach

and then guide you, so that your life’s goals were quite in reach

don’t set your limits according to the known

set your sights on unexplored, the seeds have been sewn.

Take what you can or take what you might

But remember it is and was Gd, keep that in sight.

So bless this day as one special and dear

what can you do to challenge and steer

your ship and set your compass to head due North

since the hidden discoveries are buried in that source.

So say the Sages that taught long ago

that North is the way to sail, due so and thro

because life’s trail is one of bends and turns taken

your mom was your launch, never forsaken.

About the Author
Rabbi Claire conceived of the concept Bears from Bergenfield upon a routine check of the Israeli staff at camp SLC August of 2001. She realized that the world needed to wake up and become aware of the suffering the Israelis were enduring as the Palestinians continued their intifada against them. After 18 years and 195,000 teddy bears amassed and redistributed, Rabbi Claire is searching for more public platforms to proliferate and advance her message, that Jewish lives matter, especially with a teddy bear. Rabbi Claire lives in Bergen County with her husband of 38 years, Larry, and their 4 children, Sam, Shira, Seth, and Sarah Rose, plus their incoming son-in-law Ivan.
