All students need to learn that all hatred ends up in murder
It is nice that many religions hope for or even promise Paradise after death, but human death is still a disaster that should be prevented.
But for most people, it’s hard to understand that their own hatred is toxic.
Therefore, all Israeli schools should teach all students that all hatred kills.
They should also learn the benefits of living in a society without murder, no matter its justification.
One way to incite killing is to say: He murdered one of us. But really, that’s no excuse too. At times, it’s a lie. But even if it’s true, be better than that.
And they should absorb that as bad as it is to be murdered, it is worse to be a murderer.
Police and the army can kill, but only to prevent murder, not because it feels good. Yes, powerlessness feels terrible. Revenge killing can feel good but validates murder as language, including the killing that hurt you!
It’s fine to be angry but not to hurt in the name of anger. Under the anger are many real feelings you want in the open: sadness, fear, powerlessness. It takes courage to admit them and be vulnerable, but it’s very honorable.
The Rabbis are very clear. Anger is idol worship. Anger means that you know better than G^d what should have happened. But do you?
State-ordered murder is murder too. Also executing convicted murderers won’t help anyone. The one pushing hardest for capital punishment for terrorists accused of being a terrorist. He has not unlearned harming others!
If we only get something by killing, it means G^d/Fate doesn’t want us to have it. If someone must die, G^d can take care of it. But don’t play G^d.
When they learn this early, other pleas to kill whoever should look bad.
The future of society lies in the hands of our teachers.
