Am I Crazy?

Here’s the way I see it.  Donald Trump is a huckster.  He’s inept and a hatemonger.  His dishonesty is beyond measure.  He is unfit to serve as leader of these United States of America.

So why are so many rational, reasonable people supporting him?.

Each day there are new chapters to add to the accounting.  Eventually the shock wears off.  That’s the problem. You stop tuning in to the vitriol. You stop believing that he really means it.  In you heart you know he’s a liar so you choose not to believe that he will challenge freedom of the press, that he will actually bar individuals of a certain religion from American life. You choose to believe what you choose to believe.

That’s the problem.  It’s a historic problem.  Jews in Nazi Germany chose not to believe Hitler.  They were secure in a civilized country. Their businesses and professions were bringing them prosperity.  They were assimilated and had served their country as recently as WW1.   The rantings of a lunatic would soon pass and tranquility would reign. That lack of fear, lack of understanding and willingness to ignore the warnings cost millions of lives, Jewish and other. When they could have left Germany, most did not.  They had a set of beliefs that horror could not penetrate their safety.  We cannot afford the same mistakes.

There’s a famous poem known as “They Came For Us.”  You all know it.  Now it’s time to remember it!  They’re coming for the Mexicans.  They’re coming for the Muslims.  Soon they’ll come for us.  But, only if we allow Trump to prevail.  Only if we allow Trump to become president.

My question:  Am I Crazy?  My answer:  No!  Those who support Trump are the crazy ones.  They are the ostriches.  It’s time for them to pull their heads out of the sand and realize what craziness really is!
