Israel is known as the Start-Up Nation because it’s one of the leading innovators in the world today. With a population of 8.5 million, it has the largest number of startups per capita- approximately one startup for every 1,400 people. It is also one of the fastest developing countries in the world, with major influence on global industries including hi-tech, medical and pharmaceutical research, agriculture and more.
Israel also had one of the fastest vaccination rates in the world during the COVID-19 pandemic, with 57% of its population completing both doses in less than five months. Over 80% of its adult population was immunized, and as a result, cases dropped rapidly and the general population was able to return to a better routine. Businesses reopened, schools and daycares returned to their pre-pandemic schedules and capacities, and even museums, gyms and entertainment venues were allowed to operate as usual.
I am personally inspired by Israel’s innovative approach to challenges and their ability to make quick adaptations, take risks and work together to grow. The high vaccination rates were a result of the government’s swift action and “Green Pass” system, and by the population’s overwhelming desire to work together to reach herd immunity. My company, Stone Clinical Laboratories, focuses on state-of-the-art and accessible molecular diagnostics and has also strived to help mitigate the effects of COVID-19 and encourage vaccination in the United States.
Just last month, we partnered with SG Blocks to bring COVID-19 testing to Miami’s South Beach area for the Food Network’s Wine and Food Festival. So far, our testing services have been or will be used at 44 major entertainment events throughout the U.S., in an effort to help contain the spread of the virus, gather valuable data, and end this crisis as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Thank you Israel for showing us the way- looking forward to joining you on the other side of all this!
