CPR for a Two-State Solution

Peter Joseph, a member of the board of the Israel Policy Forum, has published a lengthy article in NEWSWEEK magazine. In it, he supports the criticism of John Kerry, Ban Ki-Moon and the American ambassador to Israel, Dan Shapiro. He expresses at length support for their criticism stating that Israel really does not want a two-state solution.

He blames the Palestinians for their rampage of murder, terror and destruction, but claims that Israel is partially responsible for it by denying West Bank Arabs more freedom and eventual hope that their dream of a State of Palestine will be realized by the abandonment of Jewish settlements. It will never happen !

With writers like Mr. Joseph, we are not short on enemies… not even on Jewish enemies.

The threat that Israel will lose support of American Jewry is without a basis in fact. While many American Jewish groups disapprove of our settlement policy, very few of them will publicly advocate our withdrawal from Judea and Samaria, our biblical homeland three thousand years before an Arab or Muslim foot touched its ground.

Those advocates come from our Left and from the Peace Now group of despicable Israelis whose dream of two-states will result in the end of the Jewish state.

We need the support of the American Jewish community. They must become our allies in defense of the State of Israel.

Prime Minister Netanyahu has on several occasions offered to meet with Abu Mazen (Abbas) to sit together and discuss ways and means to reach a satisfactory solution for both sides. On each occasion, Abbas has refused to talk with Netanyahu.

I suspect it is because Abbas does not really want a two-state solution nor is he agreeable to the terms of the Oslo accords. He wants one thing and one thing only… the end of the State of Israel.

We will never allow his dream to be fulfilled.

Instead of agreeing with the statements of Kerry, Ban Ki-Moon and Ambassador Shapiro, Peter Joseph should have criticized their one-sided criticism of Israel. He should have defended Israel’s historic right to live in the West Bank territories which historically were part of the kingdoms of ancient Israel and Judea.

Instead he has been smitten with the age-old disease of judische selbst-hass…. Jewish self hate. Regrettably there is no cure for it until he himself is affected by his self-hate of his people.

For all intents and purposes, the two-state solution is dormant. It lies in a coma. Only CPR may affect its resurrection but until now the Palestinians have turned off the life support system.

Unless there is a miraculous development in favor of resuming talks and negotiations, the Palestinians will have to recite kaddish for the death of their state.
