Earth Day 2022 — Invest In Our Planet
The Earth Day 2022 Theme is Invest In Our Planet. What Will You Do? How can you make a positive impact?
This is the moment to change it all — the business climate, the political climate, and how we take action on climate. Now is the time for the unstoppable courage to preserve and protect our health, our families, our livelihoods… together, we must Invest In Our Planet.
Because a green future is a prosperous future.
We need to act (boldly), innovate (broadly), and implement (equitably). It’s going to take all of us. All in. Businesses, governments, and citizens — everyone accounted for, and everyone accountable. A partnership for the planet.
And while there is still time to solve the climate crisis, time to choose BOTH a prosperous and sustainable future and time to restore nature and build a healthy planet for our children and their children, time is short.”
We need to do more than just be net-zero; we need to bring about a positive change.
Food justice
I am sharing these powerful words from Akiva Gersh
“At the very beginning of the Pesach (Passover) seder, we recite the words: “Anyone who is famished should come and eat“, openly inviting all who are hungry to come into our homes and partake of the Pesach Seder meal with us.
And even though practically speaking it won’t actually happen that people will start pouring through our door to sit around our tables with us, this proclamation represents our deep desire to share our blessings with others, to make sure that all people have what they need, that no one goes without.
Within this emotional opening piece of the Haggadah, we see a reflection of the inalienable right of all people to have access to sufficient amounts of nourishing food.
And yet we live in a world where 25,000 people die a day from hunger, half of them children. That’s over 9 million people every year who die simply because they don’t have proper access to the basic amount of food necessary for survival.
That’s criminal for a world that has figured out a way to feed over 70 billion animals every year in order to turn them into food products for humans. “
So, how can You make a difference?
This is a question that has been pondered by many leading organizations, leading businessmen, and the average person who cares.
While there are many approaches — from being sensitive to what and how we consume , including Veganism to actively playing a part in bringing out a change in the livelihood of those most affected by Poverty and Hunger.
Global Hunger — The Gap
The majority of people living in poverty are involved in farming. Smallholder farms. This requires unique solutions. it is not enough just to teach people to fish.
I have written extensively about this, and invite you a this a deeper look and refer you to my blogs on my medium channel https://innovation-esg.medium.com/ and specifically

Net Zero+. Not only Climate Change but also Social Impact — Creating sustainable development.
This holds the key to economic success and independence for small farm holders — saving the world one fruit at a time.
Greta Thunberg has shown that anybody can make an impact. By mutual cooperation, you the individual, the customer, and the business can make a change — help mitigate climate and reduce world poverty, and hunger (and disease) as part of a collective effort.
Saving the world, one fruit tree at a time.
The Key is supporting Fruit Tree initiatives and Agro Business as opposed to just Trees.
Farming for a Fairer Future
This is the headline of an opinion article brought out by the London Stock Exchange which has an accredited Green Economy Mark recognizing the impact that business can make in Agriculture. According to Credit Swiss, The Agriculture Opportunity for connected agricultural products and services could add $500 billion to global GDP by 2030. The global population is predicted to hit nearly 10 billion people by 2050 and research by the UN has estimated that global food production will need to increase by 70% from 2005 levels to feed that growing population.

From farming to Agro Businesses
There is a clear need for Agroecology + Agro-business. Small farm holder farming needs to become profitable and sustainable. For this to happen, there needs to be a fundamental change in mindset and the way things are done.
So, what are the key criteria for Agro Businesses?
1. Choice of Crops -– So, the first change is the mindset and crop choice. From low-value crops to higher-value Fruit Trees. Once a Fruit Tree is planted, it has economic substantiable life of 30 years or more.
2. The Business Model including the exports of high-value fruits from Mangos / Avocadoes is a strong one. This includes supporting small farm holders, and the development of commercial new farms.
3. Reducing farming risks, increasing production and quality — The major challenge of fruit tree Farming is fruit flies which destroys approx. of 80% of the fruit. This has led to farming becoming uneconomical. And a waste of precious resources.
These problems are solved by the adoption of the Dream Valley Farming Protocol initiated by Israeli Scientist and Farmer Dr. Nimrod Israely and his Freedome Agtech which solves the pest problem in a natural way, and through the Dream Valley National Export Program enables Farmers to benefit from Agtech and be part of the export of these fruits to Premium Markets.
Not only does Dream Valley provide Agtech in a Farm to Table Platform, but it also coordinates all aspects of the logistics, export, supply, and money chain.
In essence, Dream Valley does to agriculture what Amazon did for trading. This is called democratization. It enables all farmers, including smallholders, to sell more fresh produce for a higher price to premium markets.
4. . Training Academies — creating knowledge centers of Fruit flies’ ecology and meta-population ecology, and understanding of Farming Business Models
