Ein Breira (There is No Alternative)

The call for a cease-fire in the Hamas-Israel War reveals three reasons one would take that position. The first is complete naiveté, the second is a lack of understanding of the situation, and the third is a deep-seated animus toward the existence of the Jewish state of Israel.

Hamas has clearly stated that it does not want a long term or permanent peace with Israel. It simply wants a temporary cease-fire, which would give it time to regroup, reorganize, and rearm in preparation for a repeat of the Oct 7 onslaught. Hamas’s plans were unambiguously stated by Ghazi Hamad, a member of Hamas’s political bureau, who praised the brutal attack Hamas terrorists conducted on Oct 7. He said if given the opportunity, they would conduct similar assaults repeatedly in the future with the goal of eliminating Israel.

To dispense with any doubt of intent, Hamad added that Israel must be wiped off all “Palestinian lands,” referring to the Judea, Samaria, Gaza, and all of Israel. When directly asked if he means the complete annihilation of all Israel, he responded, “Yes of course”. To which he added that Oct 7 “is just the first time, and there will be a second, a third, a fourth.”

Recalling and believing the famous quote by Elie Wiesel, “I learned to trust the threats of enemies before the promises of friends”, is why Hamas must be destroyed; Ein Breira – there is no alternative.
