End of Democracy in the USA

Trump, Martial law, Hitler, Jews

Many of the pieces are in place for Trump to declare martial law. Should there be violent protests in our cities the Trump administration through the Republican congress will be given a justification to pass the implementation of martial law and the suspension of some, perhaps all, of American’s constitutionally protected rights. Under Article I, Section 8, Clause 15, of the Constitution, Congress has the power “[t] o provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress insurrections and repel Invasions.

Plans for protests against Trump from Seattle Washington to Washington, D.C., have gathered more momentum than progressive organizations had expected. Move On and its allies are organizing mass protest. It is unlikely these protests will stay peaceful. The Woman’s March is headed by an effective American/Palestinian anti-Zionist so we can expect that many of the marchers will be associated with the BDS movement. Given Trump’s pro-Israel appointments and stances it is possible that this BDS faction will go over the top and bring about violence.

Further, the emotions against Trump and his cabinet appointees are rage inducing and deliberate in order to anger and promote violence. As in the past anarchists cannot be excluded from the marches, they will invade the demonstrations; how much chaos they create is not known, but chaos and damage are their political missions.

Further following the pattern of would-be dictators, the inclusion of violent marchers from amongst Trump followers in order to create the atmosphere for martial law, is a frequent tactic of those who want to take over. Likely there will be pro-Trump counter-marches and there has already been violence in San Diego between the two factions. Thus violence is a significant threat.

Hitler used the burning of the Bundestag, the lower house of parliament in Germany as his excuse. He, like Trump ran on a law and order ticket, and he, like Trump, believes in the authoritian power of the Leader. Thus the psychological/political patterns are there.

There is nothing that Trump would like more than protest marches that turn violent. And the leaders of these marches are no ‘Martin Luther Kings; nor are the marchers significantly church goers, trained in non-violence. It is evident that the dry timber is just looking for a match.

The marchers, with their constitutional right to assembly, will not change Trump policies nor his appointments. The protesters will be waiving the red flag in front of the Trump bull, and the blood sport will commence. The marchers have their rights to march, and congress has its rights to declare martial law.

We are likely at an impasse.

No question about how Israel has lost its bipartisan support as the Democratic Party is now split between the pro and against Israel factions, and so is the USA Jewish community split between those who consider Palestinian ‘human rights’ more important than Jewish lives.

What the impact of the likely violence in the USA will have on both USA and Israeli Jews is to be determined.
