In the heart of the tumultuous Gaza Strip, amidst the chaos and challenges of military life, this soldier scholar embarked on a remarkable journey of discovery and connection with my Jewish heritage.  “Jewish Journeys: The First Temple Period,” the second volume in a series on Jewish history, stands as a testament to my  dedication and passion for sharing the glories of the past to inspire pride and positive identity in the present.

As a soldier serving in Gaza, my commitment to preserving and celebrating Jewish history shines through in this labour of love, crafting a narrative that bridges the gap between ancient traditions and contemporary realities. In a time when many are seeking to reconnect with their roots, I hope my work will serve as a beacon of light, illuminating the rich tapestry of Jewish history for a new generation.

The “Jewish Journeys” series, published by Koren Publishers, offers a unique perspective on Jewish history, particularly tailored for young adults seeking to deepen their understanding of their heritage. Through a blend of traditional sources, modern research, and historical context,  I weave a compelling narrative that I hope will resonate with readers of all backgrounds.

One of the key strengths of the series lies in its focus on accessibility and engagement. By lavishly illustrating the books with photographs, illustrations, and maps, I endeavour to enhance the learning experience, bringing Jewish history to life in vivid detail. The visual elements not only enrich the narrative but also serve to captivate readers, drawing them into the stories of the past.

My personal journey of discovery and connection infuses the series with a sense of authenticity and passion. My desire to connect the warriors of yore to the soldiers of today in the IDF underscores the theme of Jewish continuity and resilience across generations. Through my work, I hope to emphasise the importance of being not just the “People of the Book” but also the “People of the Land,” rooted in a shared history and heritage.

“Jewish Journeys: The First Temple Period” is more than just a history book; it is a testament to the enduring spirit of the Jewish people and their connection to the Land of Israel. By framing the series within the context of contemporary issues and emphasising the relevance of Jewish history to current events, I endeavour to empower Jews to embrace their past and look towards a future filled with pride and inspiration.

In a world where identity and heritage are more important than ever, I hope that this work will stand as a beacon of hope and enlightenment, guiding readers on a journey of discovery and connection with their Jewish roots. “Jewish Journeys” is not just a series of books; it is a testament to the resilience, strength, and enduring legacy of the Jewish people throughout history.

I am currently serving as an IDF combat medic on the Gaza front, on my seventh deployment since October 7. My latest book, “Jewish Journeys, The First Temple Period” (Koren:2025) is now available.
