Omar Abd Rabou, a 31-year-old journalist from Gaza, has been forced to abandon his journalism career due to relentless threats and brutal torture by Hamas.

“Hamas has forced me to stop practicing journalism and writing — under treats and brutal torture. This is why I no longer post on social media,” Omar says on X. “It’s devastating to have my freedom taken away. But living in Gaza means living under Hamas control.”

Omar now lives in constant fear for his life. While several journalists have managed to leave Gaza recently through their media organizations, Omar was left behind. “It’s deeply painful. I endured harsh repression and torture. I just want to survive — I need to escape death,” he explains.

Omar is now urgently appealing to the international community. “I’m trying to escape Gaza before it’s too late,” he says. “I have shared my story many times: I face constant violence and persecution by Hamas because of my journalism and my call for peace.”
