Has America Been a Good Ally of Israel? PART 2
(Continued from part 1)
AMERICAN PRESSURE AGAINST A DEMOCRATIC ALLY
For many decades, America has pressured Israel to make unreciprocated concessions to the Palestinians. And remember that the Hamas killers of October 7, 2023 were all Palestinians. The pressure policy was consistent under both Republican and Democratic administrations.
There was the 1970 Rogers plan, there was the 1982 Reagan plan. There were Saudi Arabia plans, as well as road map talks. No plan ever demanded an end to terrorism. There were multiple conferences in Madrid, Annapolis, Geneva, et cetera – all designed to advance a fantasy peace process. Nonstop pressure – nonstop criticism – about the so-called settlements, about the so-called occupation. Insistence on construction freezes.
The United States only applies the master-slave relationship to Israel. It tells no other democratic country that it will be punished if that country fails to do our bidding.
Israel’s rationale for accepting this relationship is that the United States gives it money and arms. Israel has done more for the United States than vice versa. If not for Israel, both Iraq and Syria would possess atomic bombs. And they would have used these bombs possibly igniting World War Three.
Yes – Israel prevented Saddam Hussein and Assad from possessing nuclear weapons. In 2007 Israel obliterated Syria’s nuclear facility.
HOW CAN AMERICA’S POLITICAL LEADERS BE SO DENSE?
In 1929, in the holy city of Hebron, where the patriarchs and matriarchs of the Jewish people are buried, Arabs murdered 60 Yeshiva students, plus 133 Jewish residents. In 1929, there were no settlements; there was no occupation. The Jewish victims were not Zionists, they spent their time studying the Torah, as well as hundreds of religious texts. They had no interest in creating a Jewish state.
So, why did the Arabs kill them? For a very simple reason – a reason that has remained constant right up until today. They did not want Jews living on holy Muslim land. They did not want Jewish neighbors. The 1929 Hebron Massacre is only one of many slaughters by Arabs during the 1920s and 1930s. the murder of defenseless people who only wanted to be left alone.
Don’t you get it, America? It is not about the so-called settlements, it is not about borders, it is not about the so-called occupation. What propels Arab terror is their desire to make the State of Israel disappear.
In November, 1974, Arafat spoke to the United Nations with his pistol visible to all. This lifelong terrorist, this man fantasized by the Americans as a partner for peace, told his audience –
“We will never stop until we can go back home, and Israel is destroyed. The goal of our struggle is the end of Israel – peace for us means Israel’s destruction.”
Could anything be clearer? It is not complicated!
Idiots – how can there be a peace process with an adversary that wants you to die? Yet the fantasy talk continues and tragically many Israelis have bought into the American propaganda. No, it is not the settlements that are an impediment to the peace process. Arafat actually told the truth – for the Palestinians peace means the destruction of Israel.
Give the Arabs credit for consistency. Was America not listening when Nasser of Egypt said – “Our basic objective will be to destroy Israel”.
Was America not listening when representatives of the Arab League said, after their humiliating defeat in the 1967 war, that there would be no peace, no negotiations, and no recognition.
The American obsession with a Palestinian state is beyond hypocritical. The Kurds have been faithful American allies. They fought with us very effectively against ISIS, removing them from large areas they had conquered in Iraq and Syria.
For many decades, there has been a strong Kurdish movement and desire for independence. Never has any American politician advocated for Kurdish independence.
There are millions of refugees all over the globe who thirst for freedom. American politicians only have tears for the Palestinian refugees.
Millions of other refugees have integrated themselves into the countries where they have fled happy to shed their refugee status. Only the Palestinians retained that status as a means of keeping alive the dream of wiping Israel off the map.
AMERICA PERSISTS IN BELIEVING MYTHS ABOUT THE ARAB WORLD: FOR EXAMPLE LAND FOR PEACE
Israel controlled Gaza from 1967 until 2005. Israelis were encouraged to settle there and thousands did. They built homes, schools, farms, synagogues and more. So many Israeli children were born there. In a decision which surprised the world the Israeli government kicked out 9,000 of their citizens in 2005. Our military left Gaza. The Palestinians had total control, they had their state. They had an opportunity to show the world that they could govern successfully and raise the standard of living of their people. Israel, supposedly great negotiators, get absolutely nothing in return from their unilateral decision to vacate Gaza.
In January, 2006 there was an election between Hamas and Fatah (the so-called moderates). Hamas won meaning that the majority of Gazans agreed with their charter to destroy Israel.
In May, 2007 there was a brief Civil War between Hamas and Fatah. Palestinians killing Palestinians. Hamas won the war after having won the election.
The Americans are proposing a state that would be run by the Palestinian Authority (really Fatah). Yes, a state that would be governed by the two-time loser in Gaza. Do American leaders not understand that Hamas and Islamic Jihad would conquer such a state? They would hate such a state.
When Egypt controlled Gaza until 1967 there were zero talks by Palestinians about a state. They would not have dared. No Arab country wants such a state. Their greatest fear is radical Islam. They do not fear Israel. Their brotherly love for the Palestinians is totally phony and America doesn’t get it. That’s why in the several wars Israel has fought against Hamas no Arab country ever entered the battlefield to aid Hamas. That has also held true in the 2023, 2024 war between Israel and Hamas.
A FEW MORE OBSERVATIONS
America’s hypocrisy in preaching to Israel is stunning considering that we stole an entire continent from the Indians who were here first. Or putting Japanese Americans in concentration camps during World War II. They were probably the most law-abiding segment of American society and they got zero due process.
Knowing the animus of the United Nations towards Israel the United States has nonetheless often joined that body in condemning Israel.
Yes, the United Nations which destroyed any pose of fairness with its 1975 declaration that – “Zionism is a form of racism.”
In order to make peace with Egypt Israel returned the Sinai and kicked out 7,000 of their citizens who had made their homes there. All the Jewish homes, schools and businesses destroyed. Also two sophisticated air bases. Sadat got his beloved Sinai back yet he was assassinated by Egyptian soldiers on October 6, 1981. Why? Because he dared to enter into a peace treaty with Israel. But the Americans still don’t get it.
Israel had two prime ministers who were willing to make concessions so broad that they were severely criticized by the opposition. They were willing to give the Palestinians control of 95% of the West Bank. This would have been their second state. But the Palestinians still said no because Israel refused to disappear.
The Israeli giveaways continued under OSLO in 1993 which liberal American Jews, the silly people, viewed as peace at last. In October, 1994 Rabin, Peres and Arafat were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Five days later 22 Israelis were murdered on a bus by a suicide bomber who agreed with Arafat that peace to them meant the destruction of Israel.
America has given billions to the Palestinians, and it has never said – you will never get another dime from us until the killing stops.
Yes now stop pressure on Israel to make concessions, to return lands won at great sacrifices. Zero pressure on the Palestinians. American leaders have been incapable of saying to them in a common sense, straight forward way something like –
“Look – Olmert and Barak have made very generous offers – take the deal. Israel removed itself from Gaza, it returned the Sinai to Egypt. Instead of focusing in education and healthcare and improving infrastructure in Gaza you are building tunnels and shooting rockets into Israel. Be realistic – make peace – Israel is a thriving, successful country and it is not going to be destroyed. And remember that Israel possesses a multitude of atomic bombs.”
The sovereign Arab countries would welcome such a declaration almost as much as the Israelis would.
It is a long past time for America to take a definitive stand against destructive fantasies!
