Why is he wasting the Bedouin vote, time and again?
After the ballads are counted, everyone has won. The ones who lost lost less than predicted. The ones who almost won really won. The results are spun as if we’re all idiots who can’t do simple math.
Many times, Netanyahu went to elections believing the pollsters that he could get more seats. Yet, (almost) every time he got less of them (2019: 35, 2019: 32, 2020: 36, and 2021: 30), until he couldn’t form a coalition anymore. What’s his ‘secret,’ besides, as a capitalist, not being satisfied with whatever he has, and stubbornly believing in lousy opinion polls?
He rejects the Bedouin. For years. He could say: ‘You guys serve in the IDF. I’ll give you special status. We won’t tell you anymore where you should live. Just coordinate with the IDF that you won’t sit at their firing ranges.’
They would all vote for him, no questions asked, for generations. But no. He’s blind to them. He let them be radicalized by Muslim fundamentalists.
But why? He’s not a racist since he’s a humanist. As a capitalist, he’s as happy to help exploit men as women, Whites as Arabs, young as old. If it were up to him, Gays would get everything they want. But Bedouin not?
The only thing I can come up with is that he thinks his conservative Jewish base will be put off by it. Which is nonsense. They’ll follow him anywhere.
For the first time, he’s now trying to win the Gentile-Arab vote. Did he lose his marbles? They hate him more than anyone. What an exercise in futility.
Now is his last chance to charm the Bedouin vote. Soon, radicalization and demands for their own State will take over. Come on. How hard can it be?
And, if he loses this election again, he can complete writing his memoirs.
On slightly related news, Sara Netanyahu has been recorded calling the secret service chief a ‘moron.’ That’s a big deal? Was that a State secret?
