I Protest
Murder: the unlawful killing of another human without justification or valid excuse.
We do not yet know how many people have died because of the blocked roads. How many people have been unable to get to hospital, how many ambulances have sat idly in traffic jams. We do not know how many people will grow up with a Birth Certificate that states Place of Birth: In a car on Route 1.
Tens of thousands are marching to the Knesset. Israel’s roads are being blocked by a bunch of self-appointed critics of our democratically elected government. The rest of us can only watch in horror, most people must work for their living. They do not have the time to sit on the road.
It is, of course, possible that someone is paying them. Someone who would like to see Israel destroyed, the land turned back to uninhabited swamps. Yes, there is money coming from somewhere, even protestors need to eat. Someone is paying for the sea of Israeli flags that demonstrators are thoughtlessly waving.
I have been an Israeli for many years, having arrived as a new immigrant in 1970. I have seen several attempts to destroy the country; wars in which we all stood together, a united people. But all these attempts were from outside. Today we face an onslaught from our own countrymen. I am not sure how this will end.
