Kamala Willfully Ignores Jew-Hatred

Kamala Harris demonstrates an inability, or unwillingness to recognize the severity of anti-Jewish hate crimes since she took office in 2021. By disregarding published FBI data and not taking effective action to reverse this trend, she has placed Jews at great risk.

In Harris’ first three years as VP, anti-Jewish hate crimes more than doubled (228%) to 1,951 and were 7.3 times anti-Muslim hate crimes. Yet, she falsely equates Jew-hatred with Islamophobia. Harris continually overlooks that the greatest hate-crime target between all major races and religions are Jews with a horrific 27.1 hate crimes per 100,000 of their population (2020 Census;) this is 3½ times greater than Muslims, or Blacks. She remains unaware Jews will have an even greater target on their backs based on the 2024 NYPD Hate Crimes Dashboard.

Harris fails to mention that most anti-Jewish hate crimes occurring under her nose are attributed to leftist Jew-hating groups who traditionally support the Democratic Party and not ultra-right-wing zealots. During 2021, pro-Palestinian Hamas mobs attacked Jews throughout the U.S. These attacks accelerated after the October 7, 2023 Hamas slaughter and kidnapping of Israelis, resulting in nearly 50% of the anti-Jewish hate crimes that year.  Soon after October 7, a tone-deaf Harris reflexively announced a new program to combat Islamophobia.

In mid-2023, Harris responded to Jew-hatred with the ineffective “U.S. National Strategy to Counter Antisemitism” developed by her Jewish husband. The original plan utilized a virulently anti-Jewish resource, the Council of Arab Islamic Relations (CAIR) but was deleted after October 7.* It did not include consequences for offenders and therefore, had no impact on the upward trajectory of anti-Jewish hate crimes. It is axiomatic to say, being Jewish does not inherently ensure perspective on confronting Jew-hatred.

It became evident that Harris’ feeble response to Jew-hatred resulted from Muslim and left-wing progressive voters, an integral part of the traditional Democratic Party voting bloc crucial to winning Michigan, threatened to withhold their votes over any help given to Israel. Later, under intense pressure from the same groups, Harris ditched moderate Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, a Jew and Israel supporter for her running mate.

Instead of ostracizing Jew-haters under her party’s umbrella, Harris chose to appease and ‘respect’ them: “They [protesters] are showing exactly what the human emotion should be …. But we have to navigate it. I understand the emotion behind it.” And Walz, “These people should be heard” and “Those folks who are speaking out loudly are speaking out for all the right reasons.”

Let’s be clear. These so-called ‘protesters’ are not engaging in peaceful expressions of free speech and not deserving of respect. Instead, they are committing hate-crimes, Civil Rights Act Title VI violations, criminal trespass, assault, battery, harassment, and threats to murder Jews. They support Hamas Charter’s call to kill every Jew and destroy capitalism (Article 23) evidenced by their “death to America” chant.

This violence is reinforced by Harris’ carefully crafted language and recent apologist media ads directed at Muslims and progressives to avoid alienating them. Behaviorists know that failing to take concrete actions against anti-Jewish criminal behaviors only enables and exacerbates negative behaviors. It is naïve to think an intersectional-oriented politician like Harris will change when after 3½ years she failed to reduce anti-Jewish hate crimes by avoiding any of the consequential steps below:

  • Protecting Jews on campuses by enforcing Title VI of the Civil Rights Act and denying research grants and tax-exempt status for schools that permit criminality;
  • Examining linkages between anti-Jewish organizations that affiliate with terrorists, revoking visas of non-citizens found guilty of our laws and denying visas to foreigners who participate in antisemitic activities;
  • Increasing arrests, prosecutions, convictions, bail/bond requirements and sentencing for anti-Jewish hate crimes while reducing plea bargains; and
  • Calling out her own party’s members by name for anti-Jewish statements.

Simply speaking, Harris endangers Jews because she needs to preserve left-wing votes more than she needs the traditional Jewish votes she takes for granted. If Jews want different outcomes, they must adopt a new political pragmatism because, realistically, a vote for Harris today becomes a vote to further increase anti-Jewish hate crimes and political marginalization

*CAIR’s long-term antisemitism is noted by many major Jewish organizations, including the ADL who wrote “CAIR leaders often traffic in openly antisemitic and anti-Zionist rhetoric.” Some of their leadership came from the now defunct Holy Land Foundation, found guilty of terrorism, money-laundering and conspiracy for aiding Hamas. CAIR praised Hamas for October 7. Subsequently. the White House ‘delisted’ them from their antisemitism strategy, though the Administration should never had included them in the first place.
