Live Life and Do Good!

This has been now my new motto for life the last few years. Enjoy life in all things but always do good, speak truth, and make a difference. It does not matter how you were raised; we all know good from evil and right from wrong. At least I hope so. Every moment is an opportunity to make a difference and bring light to the world. The Rebbe famously said that each day if we try to be one bit, one step, one elevation better than yesterday we are progressing in our life, Judaism and in the direction of light and God.

Live life with family and enjoy your children. Do events and things with your kids, build memories, go places, explore the world, educate yourself, be open to new ideas and experiences. Enjoy the bounty of opportunities life provides because time is short and your legacy is your family, and especially your children.

In all things do good. People change when light is shown. Our story and tradition in Hanukkah demonstrate that Jews are to be the light to the world. A nation and a people sharing good to all. This is the example of leadership we are obligated and responsible to show to all peoples. Each day we are confronted with such crossroads to make a difference. Maybe simple phone call to someone who needs to be uplifted, maybe a good thought to bring positivity to light, maybe a interaction with an unexpected stranger who is in need, maybe a gift or a donation to someone in need, maybe even a change to impact the world by each small deed or mitzvah.

We do not know where the mitzvah seeds grow to be and how they impact the future. It is not our job to think about that, rather our job is to take the lead, be positive, do good, make a difference and be the light we are called to be. When your asked what is your purpose in life, that is the basic and most important answer, making change by spreading the light.

We see the results of those who chose to make poor decisions. Even in those times, the light of Hashem can shine when good people respond to hate and evil. Remember today, a simple message and thought, you are good, you are light, and you are important. Make good choices, decisions and change the world one thought, one action and one step at a time.
