Middle East conflicts in K-12 US public schools
I am not a fan of teaching the Arab-Israeli conflict in K-12 public schools: K-12 public schools already struggle to teach the basic subjects that children need to succeed in life (English, Math, the History of the United States and Civics come to mind). The Arab-Israeli conflict is not one of them. It would be wiser to concentrate on the basics and avoid diverting funds, teacher resources, and precious student hours to this subject. However, if some teachers insist, then both perspectives – the Arab and the Jewish perspective – should be included and discussed in class. One-sided presentations in front of a captive audience of minors, who need good grades to graduate and continue to college, are forced indoctrination of the worst type, not education.

Recommend the book for inclusion and discussion in class in courses dealing with any facet of the Arab-Israeli conflict (ethnic studies, political science, history, literature, music.)

The above letter was recently sent to all the administrators and principals of the 1,286 public high-school districts in California. If you are a parent of a Jewish child attending a public school in the US, fight for your and your child’s rights. Go to the school meetings, talk to the principal and teachers, and request that your and your child’s rights be protected.
Article 26 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights explicitly says: “Parents have a prior right to choose the kind of education that shall be given to their children”.
