‘Nuremberg,’ the ‘Idiots Guide to Genocide,’ that everyone should see
I would like to suggest that instead of the usual Festive-season fare – Santa frolics or vapid rom-coms – everyone should settle down with their box of Celebrations (or Heroes or Quality Street) in front of something more educational such as “Nuremberg,” James Vanderbilt’s film about the 1945 trial of the Nazis who implemented a real genocide.
But sadly – although there is an hour-long documentary on Amazon Prime – the full-length movie with Russell Crowe’s standout portrayal of Hermann Goering – won’t be available until January or February. And that’s a pity, because it seems to me that a film which highlights the moral – and every other kind – of difference between War and Genocide should be seen by as many people as possible.
Indeed, at a time when Holocaust denial has become a key strand of the virulent post-Oct 7 explosion of Jew-hate, and regular attempts have been made to re-frame the Holocaust as “a crime against humanity,” I’d go so far as to suggest this movie with its real-life documentary footage of what Genocide looks like should be compulsory viewing for every indoctrinated (or plain stupid person) alleging “genocide” against Israel, and should be shown on a loop in every common-room in every university across Europe and the USA.
For the avoidance of doubt, Genocide is the brutal, systematic, industrial-scale slaughter such as that of Jews in Europe between 1942 and 1945 for no other reason than that they were Jews while War is where combatants – and, tragically civilians – die as a result of military action.
By graphically illustrating the true meaning of Genocide, “Nuremberg” has become a timely and useful “Idiots Guide To Genocide.”
The “genocide” alleged against Israel, on the other hand has been shown to be an illusion, carefully created through lies, libels, manipulation, disinformation, faked photos and staged “events”. This illusion was enthusiastically embellished and amplified by unashamedly hostile NGOs, agencies and individuals, and then given wholly spurious “validity” when the lies, libels, etc were reported as “news” by a demonstrably biased media.

The horrifying real-life documentary footage seen in Nuremberg’s courtroom scenes – of survivors who resemble walking skeletons and corpses stacked in roof-high piles – should demonstrate to any sentient person the clear difference between genocide and a defensive war. But in case not, population statistics provide empirical evidence. In 1939, the world Jewish population was 16.6 million. Today it is 16.3 million meaning that after 86 years, the Jewish population has still not recovered to its pre-war level. By contrast, Palestinian Arabs who numbered around 160,000 in 1948, and claim Israel/Jews have implemented a “genocide” against them, now number – at a conservative estimate – 7 million.
Another reason why it is important for the world to be reminded of the true meaning of Genocide is because amid the current explosion of Jew-hate there is also an apparent desire to downplay or ignore the Holocaust wherever possible. Perhaps taimed at avoiding comparisons with the smoke-and-mirrors fakery of the “Gaza Genocide,” it is a phenomenon Scarlett Johansson encountered with “Eleanor The Great,” her first film as a director – which is excellent, by the way.
It’s about an elderly Jewish woman whose life spins spectacularly out of control after an innocent misunderstanding leads her to lie about being a Holocaust Survivor. As Johansson has revealed in a number of interviews, she was contacted shortly before filming was due to begin by a backer who said, in essence, that he loved the film but “wasn’t keen on the Holocaust thing” and “could the character lie about something else.”
In view of all this Denial , re-framing, etc, it is slightly ironic that the film’s “shocking real-life documentary footage” from the Nazi extermination camps of Buchenwald and Belsen exists primarily because in 1945, a profoundly shocked Dwight Eisenhower, the Supreme Allied Commander, summoned news crews to film, photograph and document in detai the atrocities because he feared that “down the line, some sons of bitches will try to say this never happened.”
Who knows if an impulse to downplay genuine genocide – perhaps encouraged by “Talking Points” in pro-Palestine WhatsApp groups – was responsible for one critic declaring that the film “didn’t need” and “certainly should not have included” its “devastating real-life Holocaust footage.”
To be fair, I can see that on purely cinematographic or aesthetic grounds it would make sense to exclude such harrowing footage. It might even have been the right decision if the film had been released before Holocaust Denial, minimising and re-framing was being so enthusiastically embraced by anti-Zionists. But today, amid a terrifying resurgence of Jew-hate – choreographed and funded by the enemies of the Jewish state – such “devastating real-life Holocaust footage” needs to be seen. When mobs rampage through UK streets – mostly unchallenged by police – calling for the annihilation of the world’s one (tiny) Jewish state, demand the “globalizing of the intifada;” declare “Zionist-free zones” in our capital and when Jews are killed in a terrorist attack on a synagogue in Manchester on Yom Kippur because a military operation is deliberately and at great expense been knowingly misrepresented as “genocide” to inflame Jew-hate and in pursuit of geo-political objectives, it is essential to include the “devastating real-life Holocaust footage.”
This film needed to include “devastating real-life Holocaust footage” because pro-Palestine activists greedily appropriate the iconography and vocabulary of the Holocaust to equate the deaths of terrorists attempting, on behalf of their extremist Islamist puppet-masters to erase the Jewish state (or were collateral civilian deaths) – with the planned, systematic, industrial-scale slaughter of six million Jews murdered for merely being Jewish.
Today, the “devastating real-life” documentary footage is needed to remind the world why the Jewish state was created, Not because the Jews were colonisers, but to give the Jews a place of sanctuary in incidentally, the Jews’ ancestral homeland where Jews have lived continuously since Bible times.
So be prepared to settle down (with or without your mini-Mars or toffees) to learn the difference between a Genocide and Gaslighting on an epic scale, perpetrated by Jihadists and their Extremist Islamist puppet-masters.
