Palestinian Schools: A Breeding Ground for Terrorists
Schools – where future generations are shaped through education. The place that develops the next doctors, engineers, lawyers and politicians, or in some nations, the next terrorists. It is a well-documented fact that Palestinian schools have constantly brainwashed its students into supporting terrorist groups and the jihad against Israel.
School Celebrations of Oct 7
For example, in the last two years, multiple Palestinian schools have seen celebration of Hamas’ Oct 7 massacre, the worst atrocity against Jews since the Holocaust.
On Oct 12, 2023, the Kharas Girls’ Elementary School in Hebron posted on Facebook one of its students celebrating Oct 7, calling it “a beautiful dream” that she “never wants to wake up from…” Another girl, a student at Shweikeh Mixed Elementary School, which also posted the girl’s remarks on Facebook, expressed her happiness over the massacre, declaring “October, month of blood, you have arrived, welcome,” and “October, do not leave easily.” Another girl from the same school celebrated Oct 7, boldly declaring “We long for Martyrdom, and our enemy fears the encounter.”
Notice, not only are these students celebrating the massacre of 1,200 people and kidnapping of 251, but their schools are posting it on their Facebook pages, as if to boast how their students are filled with some kind of ‘resistance spirit.’
Palestinian Ministry of Education Promotes Martyrdom
On Dec 2, 2025, the Tulkarem Directorate of Education’s Facebook page posted images of Palestinian children with signs, glorifying martyrdom. One sign portrayed the ‘martyrs’ of Palestine as sweet-smelling flowers:
“How could a jasmine (sweet-smelling flower) not envy a homeland that smells of Martyrs?”
Another read:
“We will live like soaring eagles, and we will die like proud lions; we are all for the homeland and we are all for Palestine.”
Again, not only are young children supporting the idea of martyrdom, but it is being openly endorsed by the Palestinian Ministry of Education.
Other examples include the planting of trees at a school to honour Palestinian terrorists, such as Abu Ali Mustafa, the head of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a terrorist organisation.
These schools, which develop the future Palestinian generations, brainwash the young into believing their purpose is to destroy Israel and that dying in an attempt to do so is an honourable act worthy of celebration. Thus, the result is never-ending radicalisation of Palestinian society.
The watchdog Palestinian Media Watch explains:
“The Palestinian Authority Ministry of Education is one of the most potent engines of terror within the Palestinian Authority. Through school assemblies, ceremonies, and various other “educational” activities, it targets young, impressionable students, systematically embedding the ideals of terror and Martyrdom from a young age.”
UNRWA
It may be hard to imagine a situation worse than this for the Palestinian children, but the situation does worsen when one examines the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees’ (UNRWA) work in the Holy Land.
According UNRWA’s website the organisation operates in five field zones, including Gaza and the West Bank, with the largest being its Gaza program, serving 291,100 students.
As a UN agency, one would expect to see less radicalisation in these schools or among their employees, but in reality UNRWA’s schools are no better than the radical, indoctrinating schools discussed above.
In a 2023 report, watchdog UN Watch exposed the UNRWA-created content in classrooms that glorified terrorism.
For example, at the Al-Maghazi Middle School for Boys B, a document which was created by Na’el Muhammad Isma’il, who identifies himself as an UNRWA teacher on his Facebook, served as a reading comprehensive exercise in 9th grade Arabic Language study. This ‘reading comprehensive exercise’ includes a story about a Palestinian firebomb attack on a Jewish bus, celebrating it as a ‘barbecue party’:
“The neighbor: “The curfew does not include us in Al-Sharafah [neighborhood]. It is imposed on Al-Tatarish [neighborhood]. It seems that there is a barbecue party [haflat shiwaa’] there with fire bombs on one of the buses of the colonial settlement Psagot on Mount Al-Tawil.””
At the Asma Middle School for Girls B, a 6th grade Arabic supplementary material, which was written by numerous authors, including the school’s principle, vice principle and supervisor educational expert, includes grammar exercises. As part of these grammar exercises, example sentences are provided to teach the girls correct grammar.
Here’s what one example sentence says:
“Read the following sentences and explain why the hamza [an orthographic sign in Arabic] is written on the words:
…
3- I will commit jihad to liberate the homeland. …”
Many UNRWA teachers also celebrated Oct 7, as shown in another report. One UNRWA teacher posted on his Facebook at 9:09 AM on Oct 7:
“Allah is Great, Allah is Great, reality surpasses our wildest dreams”
UN Watch also released a report, showing an UNRWA staff Telegram group, with 3,000 members, including teachers, “cheered and celebrated Hamas’s October 7th massacre while at the same time asking when their UNRWA salaries will be paid.”
One UNWRA teacher on the morning of Oct 7, showed admiration for the terrorists:
“I want one of the mothers of these heroes to teach me how I should bring up my children.”
Conclusion
It is undeniable that Palestinian schools have become breeding grounds for future jihadis, even schools run by a UN organisation. Not only does this harm Israel by producing more terrorist attacks, but it also harms the Palestinian children, as they grow up believing the best act in life they can do is die as a martyr against the ‘Israeli occupation.’
Interestingly, pro-Palestine advocates rarely point this out, despite the fact that this indoctrination is leading many Palestinians to their deaths as ‘martyrs’. For those who truly care for Palestinians, immense focus and pressure should be put on the Palestinian Ministry of Education and UNRWA to reform the Palestinian education system. However, with the agendas of jihadis, the UN’s corruptness, and the Palestinian Movement’s hypocrisy, the chances of Palestinian education being reformed are slim to none.
