Perpetuating the Myth of a Palestinian People

For decades the entire world has been complicit in perpetuating this myth of a Palestinian people. Its time this false narrative stopped.

There never was at any time in history a Palestinian people. There were ARABS who lived in British mandated Palestine, who were referred to as ‘Palestinians’, as were the Jews and Christians who also lived there.

It is absurd and historically incorrect for Israeli Arabs to describe themselves as Israeli Palestinian’s. If there was any validity to that description every person (Jew and Arab) who lived in British Mandated Palestine (who would today be over the age of 77) could also be described as an Israeli Palestinian. What a load of mumbo jumbo.

Let’s put the record straight. It was Arabs (approximately 700,000) that fled Palestine in 1948 to the West Bank and eventually became Jordanians. It was Arabs that fled to Gaza and remained as Arabs living under Egyptian rule.

In fact at the time the entire Arab world never once referred to the Arabs who fled the territory as Palestinians. They were ‘Arab refugees’, who were purposely refused absorption into the surrounding Arab countries in order to serve as propaganda pawns in future wars with Israel.

The Arabs that remained in the newly recognized State of Israel became Israeli or Israeli Arabs (Muslim and Christian) to differentiate from Israeli Jews. There was and is no such thing as an Israeli Palestinian. It’s a totally ridiculous concept as ‘Palestine’ was not a country with a people of ‘Palestinians’ and had never been.

The name Palestine did not evolve from any ancestral Arab history, it is a derivative of the Hebrew word ‘Peleshet’ used in ancient times to refer to the Philistines who were a non-Semitic people from the island of Crete, closely related to the Greeks.

Over time the name Palestine or Holy Land was given to the geographical area that had been ruled by one invading power after another since the first invasion by the Romans of the Kingdom of Judah in 63 BC  more than 2,000 years ago. Jewish sovereignty in the Holy Land predated an Islamic invasion and presence by more than a thousand  years and furthermore a sovereign Islamic State was never established in the area.

Prior to the British Mandate the area of Palestine was under Ottoman control that lasted for 400 years and where the same sparse population of Arabs, Jews and Christians existed as when the British took over in 1919.

However, in 1964, sixteen years after the creation of the State of Israel a bogus nation of Palestinians was invented by the Egyptian born Yasser Arafat.

Arafat decided to rename the Arab refugees as Palestinians. He even concocted a story of ancient nationhood that he inserted into the charter of his political party together with a flag to represent his newly formed nation of ‘Palestinians’.

Thus, the plight of the Palestinian refugees was born and has succeeded in maintaining an ongoing political farce that has spread its tentacles across the globe for decades with the sole purpose of spreading lies, propaganda and perpetuating violence against Israel.

Are people really so gullible that they believe the Palestinian narrative? Do people not bother to check on anything? They could for example start by searching in history books and museums, but of course it would be a fruitless search. They will never find any evidence of a Palestinian people living in a country called Palestine.

Neither will they find references to any Palestinian kings, heroes, poets or historians. Not one Palestinian artifact, coin, stamp or manuscript exists to depict the life and culture of a Palestinian people who were supposed to have lived in Palestine since antiquity. There is no recorded history of a ‘Palestinian’ people in the Holy Land. There are no accounts of a lifestyle, of Palestinian leaders, of great scholars, of wars, or meaningful events that have triggered commemorative festivals or days of mourning as is the case with all the Jewish festivals such as Passover, Chanukah, Purim or Tisha B’Av. There are not even a great number of mosques to lay credence to the Palestinian claims, those that do exist date mostly from the Ottoman period.

Even when the Ottoman Empire gained control of the area in 1516, it remained largely Christian, except for Jerusalem where for centuries there had been a Jewish majority in the city.

There is nothing that supports the claim of a vibrant and long-established Arab society in the Holy Land. What does exist are historical documents chronicling the Islamic invasion of the land that occurred 600 years after the Roman conquest.
There can therefore be no doubt that the Jews have a far more viable claim of being the indigenous people of the Holy Land than that of the Arabs.

Yet Palestinian propaganda does not cease to embellish on this outrageous misrepresentation of the truth. In their delirious quest to prove the longevity of a Palestinian people, they have on occasion resorted to such far-fetched lies that are even comical. According to Palestinian spokespersons, their illustrious history…. that was never detected by any other nation or historian, including Arab historians….is supposedly more ancient than that of the Jews, Romans or Greeks. It is so incredibly ancient they say, that it may well go back not just thousands of years, maybe hundreds of thousands of years. In that case, are we to believe that the Palestinians were around before the Neanderthals! Never mind that a plethora of international historians, archaeologists, and scientists has yet to uncover evidence to support those claims.

Ignorant global support and cynical indoctrination from UNRWA (that was endowed with a  set of criteria that differs greatly from the United Nations Higher Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) and other UN agencies) has made millions of Arabs in the West Bank and Gaza believe that they are Palestinian refugees with rights to the land on which the State of Israel was established.

Another travesty considering that very few of the Arabs who fled Palestine in 1948 are even still alive today. Nowhere else in the world have a group of people maintained such a high-profile refugee status for decades and even had their original number vastly augmented by including their children, grandchildren and spouses. That is quite a feat and lends credence to depicting them as “professional refugees.”

The world has allowed this monstrous aberration of history to continue. Moreover, the world is so blinded by ingrained Antisemitism, Anti-Zionism and ignorance that it has downplayed the atrocities committed by the murderous terror organization Hamas on October 7th and has been shockingly complicit with their goal to push Israel into the sea.
