Pilot on glide-path to radicalisation needed reality check
According to Israel-haters on social-media, the Omani pilot who allegedly tried to crash a plane carrying 117 Israeli men women and children, was “radicalised” by the “pain” of Palestinian “victims” of Israeli oppression/aggression/persecution, and of course the “genocide” in Gaza illusion.
I’ve been over why “genocide” is an illusion, with ‘Nuremberg,’ the ‘Idiots Guide to Genocide,’ that everyone should see and with The emperor has no clothes; there was no ‘Genocide’ in Gaza so we’ll move swiftly on to examine how the alleged hijacker arrived at the idea that Palestinians are “victims” of Israel.
Actually it is easy to see how. It is a perception carefully constructed over many decades through belief in that Soviet-fabricated fake narrative, augmented by lies, libels, omissions, misinformation, disinformation and denial. And then all of it amplified by biased media.
But if Palestinians are not victims of Israel, who are they victims of? For roughly the first half of the last century they were mainly victims of Arab Nationalists. Then for the next 30 or so years they were victims of Arab Nationalists allied with Soviets, and now they are victims of some unholy alliance of Islamists, nationalists and extremists that definitely includes Iran.
I know I’ve said all of this before but annoyingly, I’m going to say it again. Serially, all of these eye-wateringly rich – mostly oil-rich – and powerful entities have ruthlessly exploited Palestinians by exacerbating their suffering in pursuit of their primary objective, the removal/destruction of the planet’s one and only Jewish state.
They have done this principally by keeping a significant number of them as actual refugees; keeping them dependent, destitute and festering in camps, to serve a number of conveniently complementary purposes. Primarily – and again, I know I’ve said this before – these actual refugees serve as visual-aids for propaganda purposes to capture headlines and fuel Israel-hate and Jew-hate among bleeding-heart liberals and progressives – and pilots and the deluded Useful Idiots championing them on social-media – who have no idea how they are being manipulated. This deprivation also permits radicalisation for murderous terrorism. But far more importantly the images of deprivation and their use by a gullible or complicit media drives yet more people to be radicalised for murderous terrorism.
And murderous terrorism, of course, serves many purposes. In addition to terrorising Israelis (and let’s not forget, non-Israeli Jews who have also been murdered in, among other places, Buenos Aires and Rome), it prompts arrests, security measures or military operations which can all, always be framed (and reported) as Israeli oppression and aggression rather than as a justifiable and proportionate response to the cold-blooded slaughter – or attempted slaughter – of non-combatants.
And perpetuating the cycle of violence not only ensures that Palestinians never have peace or a state, but the framing of its repercussions guarantees an unending supply of individuals– perhaps pilots – prepared to join the “jihad”.
Let me say here that I believe the Palestinian people deserve sympathy. But for the right reasons: because for more than 80 years , they have been ruthlessly, callously exploited for theo-political and geo-political objectives. Additionally, perhaps, due to greed.
The reason I know that Palestinians are the victims of Arab Nationalists, Arab Nationalists-plus-Soviets and an unholy alliance of Islamists, etc, and not victims of Israel is because the Palestinian “problem” could have been solved on so many occasions in the past 80 years if there had been any desire to solve it on the part of their leaders, or those pulling the strings of their leaders.
Also, if we compare the Palestinian “Refugee” problem to another refugee problem in the same region at roughly the same time, it seems obvious that the Palestinian “problem” need never have been created in the first place. Except, obvs, for its value to the “cause”.
In this very comparable situation, some 900,000 Jews were made refugees after they were driven from the Arab lands where their ancestors had lived since Bible times. That is almost 200,000 more than the number of Palestinian Arabs who became “refugees” when the Jewish state was created. But no-one hears about a “Jewish Refugee Problem,” because the Jewish refugees were swiftly absorbed into the new Jewish state or were integrated into Jewish communities around the globe – and without the assistance of a United Nations agency created to assist them.
But creating and maintaining the Palestinian Refugee Problem – and, of course seeing it mushroom – has served the true oppressors of the Palestinians far better. And it’s not just me saying it: earlier this year, former US President Bill Clinton said that Palestinians never accepted the terms of the US-brokered peace talks between then-Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak and Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat in 2000, because they “never really wanted a homeland” but “just wanted to kill Jews”. Further confirmation of this assertion can be found in the terrifying escalation in murderous terrorism which followed the Oslo Accords five years earlier.
It is clear, therefore, that there were serious downsides for those controlling and exploiting the Palestinians if they achieved peace, prosperity and a State. It would remove the “imperative” to hate – and try to remove – Israel, it might also harm recruitment for “jihad.” against Israel and it would almost certainly derail a very lucrative gravy-train.
And no-one wanted that – least of all Palestinian leaders, including Yasser Arafat who at the time of his death in 2004, was estimated by Forbes magazine to be worth around $300 million, while a former PLO finance official, Jaweed al-Ghussein, estimated that up to $1 billion controlled by Arafat was unaccounted for. Arafat’s Paris-based widow, Suha and his daughter Zahwa are allegedly among the richest women on the planet.
And in addition to the billions of dollars in aid cash that has been cascading over Palestinians from myriad sources, we shouldn’t forget the aid agency, UNRWA, that was specifically created by the United Nations in 1950 to provide Palestinians with education, health-care, food assistance, and so-called “emergency relief”. The total UNRWA budget for Palestinian aid between 1948 and 1967 was some $620 million – or $7.8 billion at today’s value. There is no reliable figure for the total in aid to Palestinians between 1948 and today, but is estimated to be considerably north of $25 billion.
But the figure I keep coming back to is the £39 million – worth $540 million at today’s value – distributed in the 16 months between December 1948 and April 1950 by UNRWA’s temporary predecessor UNRPR. Given that 900,000 Jewish refuges were successfully absorbed/integrated without UNRWA’s or UNRPR’s largesse, I feel compelled to ask again why the Palestinian Refugees became a problem at all. Except to advance the geo-political objectives of Israel’s enemies.
