Simply a new level of evil… Enough!

Simply a new level of EVIL…no photo can do it justice…I am going to say something at the end of this post I never thought I would feel.

When on October 7, the Bibas family were taken hostage live on TV, I thought evil could not be topped

When millions supported the people who did it in the streets, I thought evil could not be topped

When the bodies of the Bibas family were paraded so cruelly in a parade, I truly thought evil could not be topped

Now I learn that an unknown body was put in the coffin instead of Shiri Bibas, I truly don’t think evil can be topped.

The world has to such a large extent denied the undeniable – true EVIL exists.

This is not about being a Jew, Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Seek, Atheist. It is not about race, religions or creed.

It is about EVIL and terror – simple.

The world MUST know that this is what we are fighting. Pure sadistic evil.

I am so so sad about the death of the Bibas kids and the loss their family feel. I truly hope this may mean that their mother is alive. The cruelty however (and stupidity) of the trick is beyond my wildest imagination.

The world must know, even if they won’t admit it. It must surely be time for Arab nations, Muslim nations, the UN, the global community to stand up and say ENOUGH.

It is this context that I refer to the upcoming Parshat Zachor – I want to say something which from a moderate, centrist person without a shred of racist hatred or enmity to race or religion sounds is quite a statement.

I say clearly that I do not mean this towards any race or religion (I love all people whoever as we are all made in G-d’s image) – whether Arab/Israeli, Jew/Muslim, Believer/Atheist – my record and core beliefs are clear and auditable.

I am also CLEAR when I say that I advocate maintaining full ethical principles and only acting against terrorists. However, I have never understood and always been perplexed by the text:

“Remember what Amalek did to you on the road, on your way out of Egypt. That he encountered you on the way and cut off those lagging to your rear, when you were tired and exhausted; he did not fear G‑d. And it shall come to pass, when the L‑rd your G‑d has given you rest from all your enemies round about, in the land which the L‑rd your G‑d is giving you for an inheritance to possess it, that you shall obliterate the memory of Amalek from under the heavens. Do not forget.” Deuteronomy 25:17–19

For the first time I get it. Hamas took out our weakest underbelly – “those lagging” and hit us when we were “tired and exhausted”. They murdered, raped and kidnapped. The brutally murdered Kfir and Ariel Bibas. They toyed with us by faking Shiri’s coffin. They truly, in 2023/4/5 did exactly what Amalek did.

Again, I bear no hatred to those of any race and religion but to those who support, aid or abet the activities of Hamas, including the regimes like the Iranian one, I totally for the first time in my life understand the sentiment and text. I also truly mean no harm to anyone other than the actual perpetrators of the violence (and their aiders and abetters), but that someone like me who has always found the text uncomfortable to understand it is a huge shift. I truly pray for the release of Shiri and the other hostages – BRING THEM HOME NOW.

The end of Hamas must however come and they must be “obliterated”, and we should find a path peace with the hopefully vast majority of those in the region of all beliefs who truly want a peaceful future.

I pray that our nightmares are once turned into dreams and that all good people see no more suffering from terror.
