Supporting the separatist Kurds in Iran is a big mistake
When trying to achieve a goal, it’s rational not to antagonize your collaborators. Currently, many Iranians around the world support the US-Israel war against the Islamic regime, so we may all consider ourselves collaborators in this situation. Therefore, it’s important to understand each other’s aspirations and feelings. It’s especially important to remember that Iranians hate the Islamic Republic exactly because it never cared about Iran. They prioritized their Islamic theological ideas and involved Iran in senseless conflicts with the rest of the world. The Islamic regime even openly condemned patriotism and taught us in school that Islam comes first, then Iran.
Thus, prior to 2025 and the 12-day war in June, having any form of nationalistic feelings was regarded as a sign of opposition to the Islamic regime. Nationalism took root among the young generation of Iranians as a result of the Islamic regime’s suppression. We developed these feelings to fight against a regime which declared in its constitution that “all Muslims form a single nation” (Article 11) and announced that funding wars in other countries is our government’s duty! (Articles 152 & 154). Therefore, precisely for these reasons, supporting separatist Kurdish groups in Iran would be the worst mistake that Israel and the United States can commit.
If Israel and the United States want the support of the Iranian people, they should respect their strong nationalist feelings, and providing aid to separatist groups is completely contradictory to that. It would be a shame if Iranians who oppose the Islamic regime also develop hard feelings toward the United States and Israel because they support groups that intend to violate Iran’s territorial integrity. Furthermore, it would be naive to think that, even if Kurdish groups could establish a stronghold within Iran’s current borders, the future Iranian state would allow them to keep it. Regardless of whether the future state is a monarchy or a republic, it would throw hell on Kurdistan to retake every inch of land held by separatist groups. Reviewing the contemporary history of Iran vouches for such a reaction, since it’s not the first attempt by separatists. Honestly, does anyone want a civil war in Iran after overthrowing the Islamic regime?
