Thanks Obama! You Stabbed Us in the Back but Taught Us a Valuable Lesson
I know this is going to sound crazy, but I want to say Thank You to Mr. Obama for his action-by-abstention in the UN last week, and to the UN itself. Before my Jewish brethren give me 40 lashes, allow me to explain…

Like most Orthodox Jews in the US, my primary reason for voting Republican in this past election was because I believed they were the much stronger Israel supporter. To see it confirmed in such a resounding manner has immediately validated my decision to vote Republican. I have never in my life seen such a strong outpouring of support for Israel and outright disgust and anger towards this UN resolution from the leaders of this country (minus the outgoing administration) as I have over the last few days.
It is personally satisfying, although tremendously disappointing, to realize that even before my preferred party has taken office, my views and voting preferences have been validated in the most explicit manner possible. The reaction of the majority of American political leadership makes me feel a lot better about my ability to identify a candidates’ true views on this issue.

All of my most reasonably intelligent friends have long maintained that Democrats are poisonous to Israel, and it has been the primary reason I have fought with my liberal friends. While the fact that their PC war and BLM support, among other liberal causes, are deplorable to me, being a religious Jew, no issue matters to me as much as the security of Israel and the safety of its people. I have repeatedly argued with these liberal-minded people how it disgusts me, and it should disgust them, that they are finks for sharing a party with BDS and many other anti-Israel groups. Of course, the counter-argument to that is always that the “alt-right” and white supremacist groups support Conservatives. While this is true, if you are being intellectually honest, they are fringe groups and completely irrelevant and powerless in the national political arena.
Like many anti-Israel and anti-Jew supporters throughout history who masked their true feelings and intentions for a period of time, Obama’s facade of thinly smiling in photo opportunities with Netanyahu is not even remotely sincere and this recent UN vote proves he is in fact the opposite of a friend to Israel. What transpired on Friday at the UN showed it and transcripts that claim to show the US worked with Palestinians on the UN resolution, seem to confirm it.
I know this is going to sound crazy, but I want to say Thank You to Mr. Obama for his action-by-abstention in the UN last week..
Emboldened by this new UN action, Hamas has already carried out several terror attacks on the regions now ‘delegitimized’ even further by the UN. This isn’t ‘new’- the left has long espoused a moral equivalency and legitimacy to the Palestinian claims of ‘occupation’ as justification for stabbing, and otherwise attempting to murder, innocent Jews. Now at least, the thin veneer of their claims that their twice-elected candidate is “supportive” of Israel has been totally erased and smashed, and the outright deaths of innocent jews through the empowerment of leftist policies in this country is crystal clear.

There is nowhere to hide, no explaining to do, no possible reconciliation of these facts, and that is why I am hoping that many leftist Jews might now see the error of their ways and possibly start a slow turn towards more right-wing ways of thinking and voting. I mean, I applaud you for considering gay rights, the right to kill babies, and transsexual bathrooms as being the most important issues of today, but seriously, the safety of your own brothers and sisters and homeland should hopefully be much higher up on that list, one might think. It’s over now. It’s over. You simply can not have it both ways any longer. If you do, you are obviously deluded or, worse, are willfully anti-Israel and therefore anti-Jewish.

Remember yet another left narrative that has just utterly exploded completely. During the elections, and particularly post-election, the entire narrative from the left was how ‘anti-Semitic’ Donald Trump is, how his cabinet will basically be the KKK, how they are actually doing Israel a favor by voting down Trump, and so on. Can it become any clearer now how wrong they were?
Like many people, I wasn’t thrilled with voting for Trump when he was the only Republican candidate left standing, but now? I am literally ecstastic! To see this sort of staunch support for Israel before even taking office is just incredible. Let’s not even mention how Ivanka is now making Judaism “cool” (great) again all over social media, that’s just a little bonus. I am very confident that we have elected a true friend of Israel into power, and that was my principal goal here.

I am also thankful for the passing of this resolution because it has also released a tremendous backlash against the UN itself. For years it was pretty obvious that the UN has been nothing short of disgustingly biased towards Israel, but this past weekend’s actions have brought out unprecedented disdain from some relatively former ‘neutral’ voices about how awful the UN is, and how we need to remodel, or even better, eliminate, its entire dog and pony show. It is crytsal clear now just how pathetic it is. There is a massive humanitarian crisis in Aleppo going on as the UN Security Council again focuses all its attention on Israel? Are you kidding me?! Totally abhorrent move, and this time, the UN will finally pay for it!
So, I wanted to once again say thank you. Thank you to the UN. Thank you to Obama. Israel has been around a long time, and despite this small speed bump, I believe this will actually be better in the big picture, maybe not today, but definitely down the road. Hopefully this is eye-opener, the beginning of the end of a lot of anti-Israel and anti-Jewish ways of thinking and voting, ultimately culminating in the end of the UN’s ‘power’, and that will make support for Israel from its true friends that much stronger and visible.

P.S. I don’t have many liberal friends, because I’m obviously outspoken about my beliefs and my experience has been that they can’t handle when people make logically sound arguments and disagree with their emotions, but I know they are out there. I would very much appreciate some sort of response to the previously made points. Do you still believe Trump is anti-Semitic? Do you still believe Obama is pro-Israel? That the Democratic party is better for Israel? That Republicans aren’t good for Israel? Is there really anything left to say? Can any liberals hear me outside their echo chambers?
