If the Muller Report had shown collusion with the Russians by any of the Trump people and in particular by Trump himself, they would have had no shortage in pointing out what a sad day that was for the United States and no lack of specialists pondering impeaching the president.
But now that has not happened, the press is not happy at all. It’s mostly silent (on the internet) and clearly shocked and disappointed. That is understandable because when someone lies to you five times a day and an investigation shows that he did not commit any crimes, how could you not feel frustrated?
But the critical outlets should stand above that and admit that they did not expect such a clean bill of political health and that this is a big victory for Trump who said this all along and a big boost for his 2020 campaign.
However, this lack of US traitors doesn’t mean that there was no Russian interference in the 2016 election, that Putin was right saying to Trump that they didn’t interfere or that Trump’s election was fair.
And all the dishonest Israeli media, nonstop saying that Bibi is a Trump clone, are they now saying: maybe Bibi is equally innocent? Not at all.
That would be ironic if the political naive but sly businessman Trump would be innocent and the politically shrewd Netanyahu would be found guilty. That’s not what I expect. But his guilt or innocence is not relevant for the elections as we are asked to vote on his political vision, not his criminal cleanness without a trial (or even indictment).
(Talking of Israel’s national elections next month, I very much welcome the news that “nearly three-quarters of Arab-Israelis intend to vote in the country’s upcoming elections and that a similar cohort would favor joining the governing coalition.” That means that they should all vote for constructive candidates and no vote should go to so-called Arab parties, as they are in everlasting opposition mode. But they should do more than vote. They should also in great numbers become members of their most favorite political party, whether Likud, Labor, Shash or whatever.)
Congrats, Mr. Trump, this round you won.

Like most of his readers, he believes in being friendly, respectful, and loyal. However, if you think those are his absolute top priorities, you might end up disappointed.
