The Eternal Jew’s Tale, #206, Messiahs, 1

In this episode an introduction to the world of messianic thinking.
The Eternal Jew’s Tale
Messiah Tractates, a Montage
Prelude
Out of the morass of this adammy world,
its irrational physics, once so ideal, Adam Kadmon, his mind shattered, his soul wrenched from its glorious estate to a psycho-wilderness battlefield, his will unrestrained, declaring the Divine in absentia, all powers unchained,
there emerges a holy being, without shape, soundless, imperceptible, to reconstruct these chaotic feelings by an order yet unknowable; an invisible hand will stir the seas and in its unobservable wake, wondrous waves of holiness will arise and sweep our shores all clean and pure;
and then, only foam will remain…
Hear the word of messiahs as spoken…
‘I am come to save your world. War and destruction precede from me, trampled souls, hope gone wrong, desperate judgements, you’ll see it all. That’s my foreground. Are you scared? I, messiah, am coming for you.’
‘I, messiah, am incarnate. Infinity — it’s just one, two, three. Eternity — it’s a metaphor. Nothing is what it appears to be. I have a mother, like Saturn and Baal. I’m just like you, easy to know; you can talk to me; I’m a friendly guy. Don’t forget, take a selfie with me, exhilarate, brag a bit.’
‘But I’ll only come in the worst of times and you won’t know me when I come. And I must descend from David the King; my lineage is a mystery.’
‘So I will reveal my histories and I will hint at futures, too, and tho my word is pure Truth, none among you can know the Truth. Your holy texts are layered in illusion, dreams, and fairy tales.’
‘So I’ll speak to you in analogs and contradictions you think you grasp, and you will wonder and ponder in awe, and I will perform in miracles,
I’m God so I can do anything
and you will crowd around to see
a crowd of cynics, children, and fools, abused, abandoned, desperate folk who cling to their last threads of hope, gullible ones who love a show, and scoffers hoping to parse my tricks.
Fame and notoriety both amplify the waves of me.’
‘I am messiah. Bow and praise. I am messiah. Spread the news. I am messiah to transform your ways. I am messiah to convert the Jews. And certain, you’re all Jews to me.’
‘You say your ways are intractable? You say genetics are an iron yoke? You say aggression, hatred and greed are woven into your DNA? I am messiah. I’ll wave them away.’
Messiah Tractates, Folktales, Fractals, Rascals
‘I will thwart you with threat and law, impair your miscreated thoughts, yoke you, whip you, make you cry out
‘‘mercy, mercy, I will change!’
‘but you won’t change…. I am a fire consuming your corn and then finally consuming your core. You want to know what will be left? No, you don’t.’
‘Look at me! I’m blinding light, you’re blind as night, I cannot be seen. And yet, you blind ones say you can see. How can this be? Ahh, your soul, where you have a hole, where I have a hold.’
‘And if I die a most human death, having deluded myself as my followers, too, and tho I die, my delusion* lives. Oh how you love to make belief.’
* others say: deluge
‘But you are my children, fragments of my Will.’
‘Out of my Infinite Invariance precipitates, like vaporous winds…
‘now rain, now snow, now hail or sleet…
‘all the emotional states of you, impersoned in a carbon shell…
…wisdom, kindness, beauty, will; arrogance, cruelty, violence, sloth; great desires, envy, greed, sweet love, caustic hate, awakenings of idolatries, a will to power or to altruism, empathy as well as intolerance…
slurrying into all of you; atom your body, Adam your soul.’
‘And this Adam, how does he pose to this world?
…gladly, proudly, with wailing and screams, alert, scheming, mischevious, deceitful, vindictive, quarrelsome, in triumph, in exile, just plain annoyed; with extinguished desires and suppressed fears, terrified, glib, innocent, fleeing danger, pursuing dreams; uninformed, misinformed, he doesn’t know that he doesn’t know; the Infinite at the edge of him,
before and behind and thru many doors, opened closed locked disappeared;
prey of illusion, purveyor of lies, quick to judge without evidence; he’s pitiful, weak, incredibly brave, irresistible, incompetent, glamorous, filthy, impoverished; the cleverest beast to trample the earth…
all slurried into every mind.’
‘With deceiving senses and upheaving feelings and a soul conflicting with materia we sense and yet are blind to the Truth and how to judge what is Truth, or to how discern where Divine substrates pulse. And this is the angel and scoundrel and ape that says they can judge if messiah is real.’
‘And now you tell me messiah is come?’
Will walking on water untangle this? Will raising the dead untangle this? Will defeating the Romans untangle this? Will dividing the Sea untangle this? Will talking to angels untangle this? Will resurrections untangle this? Will defying sultans and popes untangle this? Will revealing the only Truth untangle this? Will telling you what God thinks untangle this?
Observing traditions and obeying laws; holy books and miracles; unshakeable faith and talking to God, wonderful tho they all may be, they will not untangle our animal mind or create a world of justice and peace.
So let us descend and enter the minds of messiah personae living in thrall. One at a time let us go down… (But I need not begin with the Nazarene; you already know him well enough and you’ll see his reflections in these, below.)

In the next episode we find ourselves in the midst of the Bar Koseva rebellion against Rome and its messianic fervor.
