Let’s say you’re a business or startup about to launch that needs a hosting company for your shiny new website? Do you go with the lower-priced international service like GoDaddy or stick with a local firm? There seems to be advantageous and disadvantageous to both strategies.

These are exactly the sort of questions asked by Host Advice, a global web hosting company comparison site. Their 2015 survey provides some fascinating insight into this industry.

For starters, the survey found that the web hosting market is very local in nature. For example, in France, eight out of the top ten hosting websites are French, and similarly with Germany and German companies. In Italy, nine out of the top ten hosting sites are Italian and in smaller markets like the Czech Republic, ten out of the top ten hosting companies are local.

Israel, it turns out, is no different. In terms of market share, Israel’s leading storage company is LiveDNS with approximately 8% of the market; Second place was DomainTheNet company with a market share of around 7%, and InterSpace with 5.96 percent of all Israeli sites. In general, Israeli web hosts control 69% of the service of Israeli companies. International companies control the rest, with GoDaddy in the top spot.
