The Hand of God Strikes Again
Written on the tenth day of the astonishing war between Israel—“a people that rises like a lion”—and Iran
Psalms 124
A Song of Ascents, of David
Were it not for the Lord who was with us—let Israel now say—
Were it not for the Lord who was with us when men [our enemies] rose up against us,
Then they would have swallowed us alive, when their anger flared against us!
Then the waters would have overwhelmed us, the torrent would have swept over our soul—
The raging waters would have swept over our soul!
Blessed is the Lord, who did not give us as prey to their teeth.
Our soul is like a bird escaped from the snare of the fowlers [a nuclear trap];
The snare [the nuclear trap] is broken—and we have escaped!
Our help [still to come] is in the name of the Lord, Maker of heaven and earth.Psalms 126
A Song of Ascents
When the Lord brought back the captives of Zion, we were like dreamers!
Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with song.
Then it was said among the nations: “The Lord has done great things for them!”
[And we too shall say:] “The Lord has done great things for us—we were joyful!”
Our hearts are filled with gratitude and love for our fighter pilots—waging battle from afar, refueling mid-flight, and striking the targets of our enemies deep inside a vast and hostile land. But we have always known that our enemies in Iran learned from our past: from our destruction of Iraq’s nuclear reactor 44 years ago, and Syria’s 18 years ago. This time, they built their nuclear facilities deep underground.
All decision-makers were fully aware: we did not possess bombs large and powerful enough to destroy Fordo. And without success in this operation, we faced the very real threat of a malicious flood unleashed upon us.
No Democratic president was ever going to attack Iran’s nuclear program. There was no hope for international support.
Thirty-four years ago, a spirit of madness—sent by the hand of God—overtook Iraq’s ruler Saddam Hussein. He invaded Kuwait in an attempt to stabilize his country’s economy after eight years of war with Iran. A coalition of 34 nations rose against him, and under UN resolutions, American forces struck Iraq and liberated Kuwait. Twelve years later, President George W. Bush continued his father’s war and removed the Iraqi tyrant. That victory led Libya’s ruler to surrender as well and dismantle his nuclear program.
But now, we are fighting almost alone against Iran, our bitter enemy. American support seemed merely verbal. How many truly believed that President Trump would launch an actual strike?
And yet—the hand of God was upon him. He came to understand that without an American attack, the State of Israel faced grave danger, despite the many successes and miracles of this war of the “people that rises like a lion.”
And so, on the tenth night of our war against the Iranian tyrant, the Americans struck three of the enemy’s nuclear facilities. It is now clear that—even if Fordo was not completely destroyed—it will be, with God’s help.
