The New Middle East Order

Leo Tolstoy’s War and Peace showed that a battle is won by Him who is firmly resolved to win it. It wasn’t the Iranian case. Its key-intel personal including those disguised in “illusionist scientists”, its nukes infrastructure and other strategic installations that have served for co-terror have been completely obliterated. Isolated in complete diffidence in light of the indefatigable Israeli-U.S. successive operations, Iran desperately sought a quick exit-ramp to rush out of the very reality of things, like a nowhere bride.

Iran had dismissed the warnings and subsequently found out. President Trump’s two-month deadline was clear and decisive. Within this ultimatum, US special envoy Steve Witkoff warned in May 2025 that if the expected talks with Iran “are not productive, then they won’t continue and we will have to take a different route”. Cosmic irony, the negotiations couldn’t continue before they even started in an unexpected war for Iran that ended before it began. The negotiations that could have offered a lucky-joker exit for Iran in a mid-war couldn’t take place after the elimination of key-Iranian delegation members in Operation Rising Lion that was followed by a nuke-obliterative B2-led Midnight Hammer.

In the wake of the Iranian sky-quake, the regime found itself left on its own, even its proxies could not help the regime. Iran’s response including its direct and -choose your word- Indirect proxies, all combined, was very weak. Feeble.

Yet, the very weak Iranian reaction to this loud-bang thump war unveiled -in a crystal-clear fashion, the terror-nexus between Iran, houthis and algeria’s polisario, that should be finally addressed with an additional FTO designation.

A growing proxy-terror nexus

Iran’s proxy -the houthis whose chief of staff al jama was also eliminated in the course of the war on a parallel battlefield- fired rockets toward Israel. Iran-backed algeria’s polisario targeted the Abraham Accords countries, including Morocco’s Smara for the third time; and the U.S. military base in Qatar, Al Udeid, besides Iraq’s. A synchronised Iranian-led proxies reaction. A recurring pattern from 2020, when Iran targeted Al Asad airbase, to 2023, when Iran-backed polisario targeted Smara for the first time, 22 days after a second Abraham Accords country was attacked on October 7. Israel’s fight was against Iran’s nuclear program. Iran’s war mainly targeted regional peace.

In light of the very successful U.S. and Israeli operations, and following the U.S. designation of the houthis as an FTO, while maintaining the designation of hamas’ and Hezbollah, it is high time to designate polisario as a foreign terrorist organisation. A common sense decision that will bring about peace in the region and shed light on the growing proxy-terror nexus.

It is not without cause that in the very day when the Israeli-iranian war ended, the U.S. Republican Congressman Joe Wilson introduced a legislation with Democrat Representative Jimmy Panetta, designating the Algeria-backed Polisario militias as an FTO, hammering the terrorist group supporters, first and foremost Iran. Long before the conflict, Congressman Joe Wilson has consistently called for designating polisario as a foreign terrorist organization: “polisario is a Marxist militia backed by Iran”, it provides “Iran a strategic outpost in Africa and destabilizing the Kingdom of Morocco, a U.S. ally for 248 years”.

What’s next?

Although this war was surprising, yet unexpected for the Iranian regime, it was actually far more anticipated given the terror attacks of October 7th and the subsequent heinous attacks by Octopus Iranian-proxies. A year later, in an opinion piece for the New York Times, Israel’s former Defense Minister Gantz, warned against the ramifications of the war. “A strong, united Middle East, backed by the US, must act to prevent the realization of the Iranian vision of a regional attack like Oct7”, the Op-Ed reads, recommending that the regional architecture based on the Middle Eastern Air Defense (MEAD) mechanism and the Abraham Accords should be strengthened.

Furthermore, he stressed that “governments must also prepare for the right moment to remove the threat of Iran developing a nuclear weapon, should that clear red line be crossed”, and that “the time to act against Iran is now”. After the very successful Israeli-U.S. strikes of June 2025, President Trump said, for his part, “Now is the time for peace.”

Now that the two “Nows” were achieved after the two-night war, following the two-month deadline, it is time to reorder the pieces of the Middle East. Abraham Accords countries should form a bolder alliance through the Negev Forum platform. An attack on a country should be considered as an attack on the whole alliance and thus condemned as such. Morocco and the United States of America were the first countries to do so. As such, in the Israeli case, the United States and Morocco sided with the free world, through military or diplomacy. The United States of America led a successful Midnight Hammer, that struck the nuclear capabilities at their deeply buried heart: Fordow.

Morocco’s stance was clear. While Foreign ministers from several Arab countries, including Algeria, issued a joint statement in solidarity with Iran, out of fear or conviction, Morocco picked the right side of history by refusing to join this (in-)sincere solidarity movement. Curiously, in the Qatari case, all of these countries who formerly supported Iran have now sided with Qatar against Iran. The latest country to join the movement of sympathy with Qatar was indecisive Algeria which couldn’t mention Iran by name, so it replaced it with Israel in the statement, highlighting hypocrisy and double standards. Or fear.

The Kingdom, which severed its relations with Iran three times; in 1981, 2009 and 2018, decided to grant asylum to the exiled Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, in 1979, under the historic genius leadership of late King Hassan II, GOD bless His soul. In 2018, Morocco warned against the Iranian cultural attaché’s dubious mission in Algeria, which involved ties to polisario and other proxies’ trainings to disrupt regional security. The Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita provided then credible based intel that confirmed the growing separatist-terrorist nexus. Another Iranian cultural attaché was caught red-handed in Morocco in 2009, for another destabilizing “diplomatmission”. Even if Morocco had had relations with Iran, it would have reacted in the same way in the context of the recent developments, based on its ironclad diplomatic constants and firm resolve under the wise leadership of His Majesty the King Mohammed VI.

Morocco is a credible partner in the free world and a reliable, trusted ally, that should be invited to co-lead future initiatives in the frame of President Trump’s American vision : Peace Through Strength, with a Moroccan touch or a geographical interest: Africa. Morocco, as the only Atlantic-Mediterranean gateway to the Continent, could have the lead in the U.S.-African initiatives, since the Kingdom, the first country to recognize the independence of its U.S. ally in 1777, remains the only country in Africa to have an FTA with the United States of America. Morocco’s new parliamentary alliance initiative alongside Mauritania, Senegal and the Gambia to promote regional stability could serve as an important platform towards this end, in addition to the Royal Atlantic initiative. Top-level meetings could advance such global projects with an American-Moroccan leadership. A new platform “Regional Peace Through Counterterror” dedicated to a more harmonious Middle East, could be also developed alongside the United States and Israel within the dynamic of the Abraham Accords, in addition to the Negev Forum. The three great lights could reinvigorate the regional dynamics in Africa, the Middle East and beyond.

The new Middle East

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has addressed the United Nations on several UNGA occasions, outlining his vision for a “new Middle East” characterized by expanding normalization between Israel and “Arab” states, often emphasizing the potential for a peace agreement with Saudi Arabia. This would be more tangible after Syria –and potentially “the new great place with great people” Lebanon, joins the Abraham Accords. White House envoy Steve Witkoff said in a recent interview on CNBC that the Trump administration is working to expand the Abraham Accords. “We think we are going to have some pretty big announcements on countries that are now coming into the Abraham Accords, and we are hoping for normalization across an array of countries that maybe people would have never contemplated would come in”, he stated.

Trump-Netanyahu teamwork has proven fruitful. The bilateral meetings have brought critical topics to the Abraham Accords. Their first meeting featured Trump’s long-term plan for Gaza. Netanyahu’s second visit was before the U.S. President’s ultimatum to Iran that swiftly resulted in two very successful operations in which Peace through Strength was put on full display. The third visit occurs in the significant context of two historic Celebrations: the U.S. Independence Day on which the B2-Bombers flew over the White House celebrating the complete obliteration of Iran’s nukes; and Rising Lion-Midnight Hammer’s fruitful teamwork -a Golden Age Lion ally-minded symbol that represents Peace Through Strength, in two Operation-Act.

This visit will be the perfect timing for paving the way for a Peace through Peace announcement, after the two Peace through Strength milestones. Syria was given a chance to build peace from peace. The revocation of Syria sanctions supports a stable Syria that “does not offer a safe haven for terrorist organizations and ensures the security of its religious and ethnic minorities will support regional security and prosperity”, as highlighted in President Trump’s Executive Order. A fragile post-Assad country should be supported to contribute to reshaping the face of the region within the American-led regional architecture: the New Middle East Order.

“Syria is the geopolitical poster boy for epic change, hope, and potential in a complicated Middle East puzzle”, according to the U.S. Ambassador Tom Barrack. Worth nothing, Syria was on Secretary of State Rubio’s agenda on the eve of the U.S. Independence Day, a highly historic national day to celebrate two and half Centuries of Freedom. America’s firm determination to help the new Syria achieve a complete status of liberty, free from Iranian-backed proxies is crystal clear. In their call, Secretary Rubio spoke with the Syrian Foreign Minister, about the historic actions that were taken by President Trump, affirming he would consider further steps reviewing domestic and United Nations terrorist designations related to Syria. “The Secretary also underscored his intent to maintain sanctions on malign actors including Bashar al-Assad, his associates, and others who threaten Syrian and international security.”

A bold Abraham Accords alliance will particularly help Syria in its fight against terror, the whole region’s fight; Syria could finally flourish and prosper. Such alliance should be harmonious and above all, coherent. Members should respect each other’s territorial integrity. The post-Assad Syria chose the right side of history when it shut down the polisario militia’s garage in Damascus, which had been active under the previous regime. It is now time to reject foreign terrorist organizations’ presence in its territory and support the Moroccan Sahara, following the path of all the other Abraham Accords countries.

In these very veins,  Secretary-General of the Free Syrian Party, Fahad AlMasri, a moderate politician who favors interfaith dialogue and regional peace, has also called on the current Syrian President to designate polisario as a terrorist organization, hailing the abovementioned decision made on May 27 by the new Syrian authorities. Such prominent moderate figures should be encouraged to join the next Abraham Accords projects and contribute to think-tanking on a bright glocal future.

The upgrade of the Moroccan-Israeli diplomatic status remains, thus, the Accords’ golden age most essential cornerstone. A firm stance against Iran-backed proxies, including the designation of polisario as an FTO, is critical to this end.

Globally, Peace Through Strength is what will guide the free world in the fight against emerging threats and subsequently in the global war on terror. Following his successful ceasefires, in addition to the Abraham Accords, ones of the most ground-breaking peace agreements generations, and his bold strikes on terror groups, President Trump- the peacemaker and unifier of the century, deserves to be granted the Nobel Peace Prize. Reporter Hariana Veras told the President that if peace lasts, DRC President Felix Tshisekedi said he will nominate Trump for the Peace Prize, after he hosted a truce signing between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda. Pakistan has, for its part, formally recommended President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, citing his “decisive diplomatic intervention” during a period of heightened tensions with India. The State Department should capitalize on these important initiatives and secure more support through an established forum, such as Trump for Nobel Prize Coalition.

Regionally, the chess pieces of the Middle East will be reordered, by transforming the old Assad-Syria to a committed Abraham Accords country and the (t-)Irany to a great trade nation. President Trump who masters the Art of the Deal, relocated the Iranian dogma from war to trade paradigma: “They are not going to have enrichment and they are not going to have a nuclear weapon. They are going to get on to being a great trading nation”.

The Abraham Accords should be emboldened by multilateral agreements frameworks and an economic corridor that would make the region more stable and prosperous. Regional peace railways, security forums and various platforms for youth will enhance the intercultural dynamics.

The June history repeats itself

From 1967 to 2025, new alliances were shaped and Israel’s wide spectrum of capabilities went stronger. Animosities of the past became today’s alliances. The new June war, alias the double six-day war, showed two main realities. First, Israel is not alone in its concrete action against terror. Second, this war displayed peace through strength, from a successive not a collective deterrence. This war is, finally, fundamentally different from the previous June six-day war in which there was no proxy. Proxies-synchronized malveillant behaviour should be faced with greater deterrence.

The element of surprise was an important military principle during this war. Conversely, the United Nations’ support for Iran came as no surprise. The latter’s attempts to project its influence in the UN have been indirectly supported behind the scenes, in the form of the advancement of an appointment to lead the Human Rights Council Social Forum in 2023 for example, which was widely condemned, or another attempt by the iranian front groups to subvert the UN Review of Iran’s rights record (UPR), since 2019, despite the fact that it has prompted an international protest. The United Nations’ course of history that will shape the New World Order needs to be advised on by prominent Abraham Accords figures such as the successful Morgan Ortagus. This would reverse the equation for a true peace-friendly UN that hammers on the global 4-ism threats: antisemitism, terrorism, separatism and violent extremism.

An Abraham Accords-oriented United Nations will help the Abrahamic coalition grow in a healthy UN-environment, far from those who internally block the peace movement because of a personal trauma disguised in an Israeli derangement syndrome. On the external communication level, the Abraham Accords will be publicly expanded from the very International Community’s Quartier General.

On a personal note, I voluntarily chose to attend all of the heads of States and Governments’ UNGA78 addresses, except the former Iranian president’s. After Raisi’s funeral, we were asked to stand up and show sympathy for the Iranian delegate at a CPC meeting in June 2024, I was then the only diplomat in the room who chose not to stand up, on my own initiative, since I believe that there should be no room for duplicity or ambiguous diplomacy in the UN. One cannot be against his country’s national security, and the Abraham Accords’ collective security at large.

As History repeats itself, the scenario of an Iran joining the Abraham Accords, probably under a different leadership, is highly plausible. What was an antagonism in June 1967, became peace protagonists by June 2025, would another June bring a new reality with Iran?
