The Orthodox Rabbis promote forbidden homosexuality

Only with Straight men, men are forbidden to have homosexual intercourse

Natural Relational Homosexuality

For those who don’t read Hebrew, the Torah says that one (implied: men) should not have intercourse with a man instead of with a woman. To make clear that the last stipulation is noticed, it also forbids intercourse with an animal. It didn’t add: As with a human. Clearly, the former is a forbidden activity for Straight men only. For them, homosexuality is unnatural. As the Talmud explains literally: It would make them leave their wives and kids. Maimonides is very clear that such a thing was not done among Jews. The Rabbis are also very certain that human nature won’t change. That’s how the ‘old’ laws are still valid. So, no one can say that in Maimonides’ days there were no homosexual Jews—who need a man to become one flesh. Rather, heterosexual Jews would not go the way of the Greeks and other Gentiles. Even the leading rabbis of their generations, Chief Rabbi Kook of Palestine and Reb Moshe Feinstein admitted that there seem to be men for whom homosexuality wasn’t an unnatural lure but an innate need.

A couple of the nice things of Jewish Law are that the incredibly wise Torah text can’t be changed, no matter how much it may scare us. That a sloppy reading can always be challenged. That Judaism holds that no Jewish Belief can contradict Reality. That G^d’s Ways may be hard to predict, but that certainly, He expects humans to be logical, kind, and proactive for good.

Not just the Rabbis are confused. Standard Psychology no longer acknowledges sexual orientation (or gender identity). All is fluid and depends on biological and societal influences. You are what you do, how you feel, and what you wish. No difference between recreational and relational sex. The same nonsense as philosophers denying Free Will. So, no Rabbi should blindly trust all therapists, including the honest ones.

Persecuting the Innocent

However, for the last half a century, after the Muslim and Christian model, Orthodox Rabbis have been fulminating against homosexuals. They were not OK. As if it is ever OK, possible, or even allowed for anyone to forgo our biological needs forever. (RC Church history shows the results.)

So, innocent Gay Jewish men are largely still in hiding. They’ve committed suicide, they’ve left Judaism, lost their good names, families, friends, communities, and jobs, and they’ve seen their lives turned into ruins. But mostly, they have been unable to find a spouse to cling to and raise children with. There are no Jewish matchmakers for same-sex partners.

The result left many Gay Jewish men without a life partner, unattached, hooked to porn, loose sexual encounters, and masturbation, and worst of all, with a sex obsession. Lives in ruin for no reason at all. Holy people persecuted for being human. Not so different from the ancient Chinese abusive custom of breaking and tightly binding the feet of young girls, or the forcing of unnatural and debilitating tiny waists in Victorian England.

Promoting Straight Men to Sin

Worse than these Rabbis misread Scripture and had no common sense is that their wives also didn’t interfere, and they talk like Gentile preachers.

But this is more than oppressing the innocent. This is exactly what Straight men ‘need’ to commit this recreational capital sin for them: a large pool of sex-hungry submissive unattached men. These Straights don’t hope for a relationship. They just want sex. Preferably, each day with someone else.

And this is how the Orthodox Rabbis maintain a problem that, according to Maimonides, never was: a large percentage of heterosexual Jewish men having sexual intercourse with men while blaming innocent homosexuals.

Change is Long Overdue

It’s high time to change this. If only, to redeem all the great Rabbis who went to their graves in the past 50 years without objecting against this.

Other Monotheists too need to learn from Jews what the Torah really says. They even kill Gays. Judaism doesn’t do mutual rights and entitlements. Rather, it promotes mutual responsibilities. More than that Jewish men are “entitled” to their natural need for a sexual partner, they must seek one and cling to him to not waste their G^d-given life. Gay men are not excluded. We need lots of kosher same-sex providing matchmakers. It’s high time to have Gay stand for happy. And to block Straight men from finding so many sex-hungry Gay men to serve their unLawful wishes.

(Many preachers say that Gays must be faulty because they’re unhappy. Not so different from Christians who mass murdered us and then, in the greatest chutzpa, said that the massacres proved that G^d had left us.)

Gay Jewish men have done their share of change. They tried therapy—it didn’t work. Gay men need a man to fight off existential loneliness, more than for sex. This shows that sexual preference is neurobiologically engraved in the brain, and just like gender identity and handiness can’t be changed. They tried walking out. It didn’t work. They showed that they are better congregants, friends, partners, fathers, and rabbis—no change.

They cried buckets full, sweet-talked and begged the Rabbis—to no avail. I hold that Gays and their Allies need to speak up with a firmness even the most radical feminists have never needed. Fifty years of niceness did not help. Maybe, only when Gays show that chutzpah, enough Rabbis will too.

Redemption in the Balance

How can we hope to work for Redemption while we still oppress 5 percent of our own, one million Jews?! Ah, it would make you feel uncomfortable? Well, it’s only fair that now, heterosexuals will feel uncomfortable, for a change.

I look forward to when I don’t need to call the Rabbis to order anymore. For me, it is enough reward when no young Gay commits suicide anymore.

Disclaimers: I too have given ‘reparative therapy.’ Only, I didn’t brainwash, scare, or hurt my clients. And I stopped as soon as it became clear that it set Gay men up for Straight marriages that can’t last and be real for them.

I hope you noticed I didn’t talk about women. That’s for several reasons. 1. Females are not just a subspecies of males. They deserve their own texts. 2. Especially, because their sexuality is often more nuanced. Without nuances, the stuff is complicated enough for most people. 3. My hunch is that when the Rabbis make peace with Gays, Lesbians will be out of trouble too.

But, let me grab this chance to acknowledge what Lesbians have done for Gay men when no one wanted to know them, when they were dying from AIDS by the thousands, demented and sick. No ministers, rabbis, no family, government, or health care cared. Lesbian volunteers nursed many of them with great humility and unbelievable empathy, until these, mostly young beautiful people turned ugly, dropped dead. Righteous among the nations.

About the Author
MM is a prolific and creative writer and thinker, previously a daily blog contributor to the TOI. He often makes his readers laugh, mad, or assume he's nuts—close to perfect blogging. He's proud that his analytical short comments are removed both from left-wing and right-wing news sites. None of his content is generated by the new bore on the block, AI. * As a frontier thinker, he sees things many don't yet. He's half a prophet. Half. Let's not exaggerate. Or not at all because he doesn't claim G^d talks to him. He gives him good ideas—that's all. MM doesn't believe that people observe and think in a vacuum. He, therefore, wanted a broad bio that readers interested can track a bit what (lack of) backgrounds, experiences, and educations contribute to his visions. * This year, he will prioritize getting his unpublished books published rather than just blog posts. Next year, he hopes to focus on activism against human extinction. To find less-recent posts on a subject XXX among his over 2000 archived ones, go to the right-top corner of a Times of Israel page, click on the search icon and search "zuiden, XXX". One can find a second, wilder blog, to which one may subscribe too, here: https://mmvanzuiden.wordpress.com/ or by clicking on the globe icon next to his picture on top. * Like most of his readers, he believes in being friendly, respectful, and loyal. However, if you think those are his absolute top priorities, you might end up disappointed. His first loyalty is to the truth. He will try to stay within the limits of democratic and Jewish law, but he won't lie to support opinions or people when don't deserve that. (Yet, we all make honest mistakes, which is just fine and does not justify losing support.) He admits that he sometimes exaggerates to make a point, which could have him come across as nasty, while in actuality, he's quite a lovely person to interact with. He holds - how Dutch - that a strong opinion doesn't imply intolerance of other views. * Sometimes he's misunderstood because his wide and diverse field of vision seldomly fits any specialist's box. But that's exactly what some love about him. He has written a lot about Psychology (including Sexuality and Abuse), Medicine (including physical immortality), Science (including basic statistics), Politics (Israel, the US, and the Netherlands, Activism - more than leftwing or rightwing, he hopes to highlight reality), Oppression and Liberation (intersectionally, for young people, the elderly, non-Whites, women, workers, Jews, LGBTQIA+, foreigners and anyone else who's dehumanized or exploited), Integrity, Philosophy, Jews (Judaism, Zionism, Holocaust and Jewish Liberation), the Climate Crisis, Ecology and Veganism, Affairs from the news, or the Torah Portion of the Week, or new insights that suddenly befell him. * Chronologically, his most influential teachers are his parents, Nico (natan) van Zuiden and Betty (beisye) Nieweg, Wim Kan, Mozart, Harvey Jackins, Marshal Rosenberg, Reb Shlomo Carlebach, and, lehavdil bein chayim lechayim, Rabbi Dr. Natan Lopes Cardozo, Rav Zev Leff, and Rav Meir Lubin. This short list doesn't mean to disrespect others who taught him a lot or a little. One of his rabbis calls him Mr. Innovation [Ish haChidushim]. Yet, his originalities seem to root deeply in traditional Judaism, though they may grow in unexpected directions. In fact, he claims he's modernizing nothing. Rather, mainly basing himself on the basic Hebrew Torah text, he tries to rediscover classical Jewish thought almost lost in thousands of years of stifling Gentile domination and Jewish assimilation. (He pleads for a close reading of the Torah instead of going by rough assumptions of what it would probably mean and before fleeing to Commentaries.) This, in all aspects of life, but prominently in the areas of Free Will, Activism, Homosexuality for men, and Redemption. * He hopes that his words will inspire and inform, and disturb the comfortable and comfort the disturbed. He aims to bring a fresh perspective rather than harp on the obvious and familiar. When he can, he loves to write encyclopedic overviews. He doesn't expect his readers to agree. Rather, original minds should be disputed. In short, his main political positions are among others: anti-Trumpism, for Zionism, Intersectionality, non-violence, anti those who abuse democratic liberties, anti the fake ME peace process, for original-Orthodoxy, pro-Science, pro-Free Will, anti-blaming-the-victim, and for down-to-earth, classical optimism, and happiness. Read his blog on how he attempts to bridge any tensions between those ideas or fields. * He is a fetal survivor of the pharmaceutical industry (https://diethylstilbestrol.co.uk/studies/des-and-psychological-health/), born in 1953 to his parents who were Dutch-Jewish Holocaust survivors who met in the largest concentration camp in the Netherlands, Westerbork. He grew up a humble listener. It took him decades to become a speaker too, and decades more to admit to being a genius. But his humility was his to keep. And so was his honesty. Bullies and con artists almost instantaneously envy and hate him. He hopes to bring new things and not just preach to the choir. * He holds a BA in medicine (University of Amsterdam) – is half a doctor. He practices Re-evaluation Co-counseling since 1977, is not an official teacher anymore, and became a friendly, powerful therapist. He became a social activist, became religious, made Aliyah, and raised three wonderful kids. Previously, for decades, he was known to the Jerusalem Post readers as a frequent letter writer. For a couple of years, he was active in hasbara to the Dutch-speaking public. He wrote an unpublished tome about Jewish Free Will. He's a strict vegan since 2008. He's an Orthodox Jew but not a rabbi. * His writing has been made possible by an allowance for second-generation Holocaust survivors from the Netherlands. It has been his dream since he was 38 to try to make a difference by teaching through writing. He had three times 9-out-of-10 for Dutch at his high school finals but is spending his days communicating in English and Hebrew - how ironic. G-d must have a fine sense of humor. In case you wonder - yes, he is a bit dyslectic. If you're a native English speaker and wonder why you should read from people whose English is only their second language, consider the advantage of having an original peek outside of your cultural bubble. * To send any personal reaction to him, scroll to the top of the blog post and click Contact Me. * His newest books you may find here: https://www.amazon.com/s?i=stripbooks&rh=p_27%3AMoshe-Mordechai%2FMaurits+van+Zuiden&s=relevancerank&text=Moshe-Mordechai%2FMaurits+van+Zuiden&ref=dp_byline_sr_book_1
