Three Chords and the Truth

American Blues and Country songwriters have described their music as “Three Chords and the Truth.” The “three chords” are a basic musical structure that great songs can be built on. By “truth,” they believe the American narrative is best captured in candid, honest storytelling.

We now follow Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard revealing the declassified details of the December 2016 coverup and subsequent propagation of the Hillary Clinton funded-Fusion GPS crafted-Steele Dossier Russia Collusion hoax. Part of the investigation suggests President Barack Obama had sabotaged incoming President Donald Trump.

President Obama had promised a statesmanlike Executive Branch hand-over of power, “I committed to President-Elect Trump that my administration would ensure the smoothest possible transition, just as President Bush did for me.” If the coverup is true, then his actions and lie are a disgrace.

Jews and pro-Israel Americans should remember that during this same December 2016, the outgoing President Obama also displayed his lack of principle and truthfulness backstabbing ally Israel and her Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. It was President Obama who orchestrated America’s abstention vote as a member of the United Nations Security Council on biased Resolution 2334. Its passage 14-0 negatively affected the diplomatic status of Jerusalem, undercutting Israel on the international stage and encouraging a non-negotiated Palestinian statehood movement.

President Obama’s treacherous UN Resolution 2334 action was perpetrated despite pledging at an AIPAC gathering in 2012, “…the United States will stand up against efforts to single Israel out at the United Nations.”

Regarding his animus for Israel, President Obama no doubt remained very unhappy with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who carried the battle against the dangerous Iran Nuclear Deal (aka, JCPOA or Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action) to the United States Capitol. Bibi characterized it as a “very bad deal” and that predicted it would become a “hinge of history.”

Despite the many occasions when President Obama promised to “have Israel’s back,” truthfulness and loyalty took a backseat to his revenge motive. While President Barack Obama’s legacy may well be marred by his untruthfulness regarding the Russia Collusion hoax, it can be argued that abandoning Israel was more insidious.

President Trump, after his first term’s election, canceled the JCPOA and placed severe economic sanctions on Iran.

Four years later, President Joe Biden removed all sanctions that restrained Iran’s weapons production, nuclear research and funding terrorist proxies. His support for Israel waned as the October 7 conflict did not speedily conclude, and his unhelpful meddling only made Israel’s seven-front war more difficult to wage. The heinous Hamas attack on Israel in October 2023 can be attributed in large part to both perfidious and weak-kneed Presidents Obama and Biden.

Now we can see that President Biden’s presidency was marred by untruthfulness on a variety of issues including safe borders, Fauci lab leak denials, pardoning Hunter, DEI, autopen signings, runaway antisemitism, economic stagnation and his disabilities.

Soon after his second term election, President Trump authorized the US Air Force to join with the IDF to destroy the Iranian nuclear weapons infrastructure. Jews and pro-Israel Americans should praise his courage and leadership.

Two other ongoing stories, highlighting truthfulness, warrant our attention: first, the Columbia University antisemitism settlement, and second, the protracted Gaza conflict.

Thanks to President Trump’s commitment to eliminate campus-centered antisemitism, Columbia University has just agreed to pay over $200 million in fines over the next three years to resolve claims it discriminated against Jewish students. This followed Columbia’s firing President Shafik after she faced Congressional questions about her leadership regarding antisemitism on campus after October 7.

The explosion of campus rioting antisemitism and anti-Zionism was ignited by the pro-Hamas rhetoric inverting the story of the perpetrator Hamas’s atrocities and the victimized Israelis murdered, raped, burned, kidnapped and beheaded. The financial settlement and Columbia’s policy remediations are a good first step to battle the tsunami of hateful lies and bias that fueled the chaos.

Regarding the war between Israel and Hamas, President Trump has voiced frustration with Hamas and the United Nations over their role distributing the needed food supplies. For Hamas, using Palestinians as human shields and starvation victims are central to their propaganda strategy to gain worldwide support and manipulate the conflict’s outcome. U.N. agencies and the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) have been thwarted by Hamas, and the tons of food delivered sit unavailable to the hungry.

Hamas’s despicable disinformation approach dovetails perfectly with the decades long United Nations asymmetric treatment of Israel, and a narrative that feeds the anti-Israel politics of Muslim-invaded Western Europe.

The misinformation campaign targeting Israel is packed with triggering words like famine, starvation and genocide. It is a sad continuation of millennial-old accusations that led to pogroms, expulsions, prejudice, and the Holocaust. Even the recent nauseating capitulation by France recognizing a Palestinian state is evidence of how unprincipled governments reward the guilty.

By contrast, President Trump has been a staunch supporter of Israel in her conflict with Hamas, Iran and her terrorist proxies. He blames Hamas for the deadlock in U.S.-mediated negotiations that should ensure a ceasefire-for-hostages agreement with Israel. He sees the breakdown of the ceasefire and hostage release negotiations as a direct result of the growing signs of a Gaza famine manipulated by the terrorists, not the Jewish state.

Fortunately, President Trump stands with Israel, and against antisemitism and anti-Zionism.

Nazi Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels said, “A lie told once remains a lie, but a lie told a thousand times becomes the truth.”

Americans deserve to know the full truth. The liars are being exposed and hopefully they will be held accountable.
