Trump — yes or no?
Who is he? What are his true intentions? And does it matter? For after all, the main thing is the deed.
He’s doing many things for Israel’s benefit. On the other hand, there seems to be gaps.
He hasn’t yet withdrawn the tariffs. He is cozying up to Turkey’s leader. He is promoting dialogue with Iran.
Are these good things, or maybe not so good? In other words, is he a complete friend of Israel, or is he thinking about himself?
On Tuesday he brought three freed captives on stage at a Republican event. Here is some of what they said:
“You got 33 of us home alive. We all owe our lives to you.”
“We are here because of President Trump.”
“And now I’m here with President Trump, who is running the world.”
Actually, the Almighty did all that. G-d has many messengers. He can use Trump or others to accomplish His will.
Our salvation lies with G-d, not with Trump.
Our supplications should be to G-d. We ask Him to save us. We ask Him to redeem us. We trust in Him.
Even the US dollar says on it, “We trust in G-d.”
So where do we go from here?
Should we thank Trump? Yes. We need to show appreciation when someone does something good for us. We thank them for their caring.
But trust in Trump? No. Trump does not run the world. G-d does.
And we need to ask G-d to free the hostages. Because it all depends on Him. And only Him.
As we are about to celebrate Passover, we remember that G-d took us out of Egypt, split the sea, gave us the Torah at the revelation at Mount Sinai, and gave us the land of Israel.
He will redeem us. He will free the captives. And He will bring the complete Redemption with our righteous Moshiach.
May it happen very soon.
