Unethical Japanese Documentary Interview
When I saw this, I felt it’s best not to spread this YouTube, but what I can’t help saying is that Fusako Shigenobu is laughably and boldly glorifying and, worst of all, justifying the terrorism she had been involved in Lebanon for decades. What she is known for is ordering a mass shooting at Ben Gurion Airport back in 1972. Do you think the victims’ families are pleased to see the leader of the terrorist group who ordered the mass murder targeting Embassies of Western nations?
Lod Airport Massacre (May 30, 1972)
26 people were killed, and more than 80 people were injured at Ben Gurion Airport. Tsuyoshi Okudaira, Yasuyuki Yasuda, and Kozo Okamoto committed the mass shooting ordered by Fusako Shigenobu. Airport security neutralized Okudaira and Yasuda. Okamoto was captured alive and was sentenced to life in prison, but was released in a 1985 prisoner exchange.
Japan Air Lines Flight 404 Hijacking / Dubai Hijacking (July 1973)
Shortly after JAL Flight 404, a Boeing 747 with 145 passengers and crew took off from the airport in Tokyo; JRA member Osamu Muraoka and three Palestinian terrorists hijacked the plane. The flight landed in Dubai and Damascus, then in Benghazi, Libya. A female Palestinian terrorist detonated a hand grenade; she accidentally died, and the chief purser was injured.
French Embassy Siege in The Hague / The Hague Incident (September 1974)
JRA operatives Haruo Wako, Jun Nishikawa, and Junzo Akudaira(the younger brother of Lod Airport terrorist, Tsuyoshi Okudaira) took 11 hostages, including the French Ambassador to the Netherlands. The terrorists demanded Yamada’s release and 300,000 dollars in cash and a getaway plane. Two Dutch officers were injured as a result of a heavy gunfight.
The French government capitulated, handed Yamada to his comrades, and the group departed on a Syrian Arab Airlines plane provided to them.
Fusako Shigenobu was physically present in Damascus. She used encoded radio transmissions and alias couriers to orchestrate the breach and supply the forged papers.
Kuala Lumpur Base Siege / AIA Building Seizure (August 1975)
Five heavily armed JRA terrorists stormed into the AIA Building in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where the U.S. Embassy and Swedish Embassies were located. The terrorists seized more than 50 hostages, including the U.S. Consul and the Swedish chargé d’affaires.
At that time, the Prime Minister of Japan succumbed to the pressure. Five JRA inmates were released and fled to Malaysia on a JAL relief plane. These five members also fled to Libya. They were granted asylum.
Dhaka JAL Flight 472 Hijacking (September 1977)
JAL Flight 472, flying from Paris to Tokyo, was hijacked shortly after a stopover in Mumbai, India. This was carried out by Osamu Maruoka and Noriko Sasaki. The plane landed in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The JRA demanded the release of nine imprisoned radicals in Japan and demanded 6 million dollars as ransom. This is equivalent to 16 million dollars in today’s value. Prime Minister Takeo Fukuda stated, “The value of a single human life outweighs the earth.” Japan dispatched a plane with the ransom and six terrorists, for which JRA demanded their release.
Naples USO Bombing (April 1988)
This time was a car bomb, and it exploded outside the U.S. Military Service Organizations(USO) club in Naples, Italy. Five people, including a Puerto Rican woman serving in the U.S. Navy and four Italian civilians, were killed. Junzo Okudaira, a JRA explosives expert, was directly involved in the car bomb.
Shigenobu’s “revolution” operations ended with the collapse of the Soviet Union. During 30 years in Lebanon, Fusako Shigenobu interacted directly with Arafat, a KGB product.
The ironic part of the interview is that Akira Ikegami is asking about the political values of Fusako Shigenobu and her “way” of expressing. She has enjoyed massive support from earnest fans in Japan since her release in 2022. Fusako Shigenobu called Arafat “a lovable uncle.”
Since her release in 2022, she has given public speeches and written books to justify her actions and her role as JRA leader. Ikegami, the commentator and interviewer, was totally inappropriate in inviting Fusako Shigenobu, as he didn’t confront her actions but instead seemed awed by what she did and treated her as a woman of redemption.
The above terrorist actions, which I have written about, can never be justified, and terrorism must never be tolerated. Some researchers are heavily inclined to socialism when they speak about democracy. All the deeds by JRA, which were ordered by Fusako Shigenobu, can never be called radical democratic terrorism, in synical terms, but rather Soviet-style mob actions.
Also, I have a question over the UN treating Zionism as a discriminatory expression. Why are the Japanese media appraising and appeasing Soviet-style cruelty and acts?
