We Must Stop the Hate to Win the War
For decades, Benjamin Netanyahu has been warning of the Iranian threat, both in his official capacity as Prime Minister and as leader of the opposition. The world ignored his warnings and largely continues to negate the seriousness of the Iranian threat. Everything changed on October 7, 2023 – the day Iranian proxies launched a dastardly massacre on the State of Israel. Hamas, an acolyte of the Iranian theocratic regime, proved to be an insufferable opponent, continuing to fight, even when its radical Islamist network was being decimated.
Years of bloody conflict have succeeded in whittling away thousands of wicked terrorists and enablers, with scant evidence that the ideological underpinnings of such hatred are going to change anytime soon. The Jewish people and friends of Israel worldwide are well aware that bombs and military munitions alone cannot eradicate a death cult mentality. When hatred is spewed at the institutional level, in the corridors of power, in educational systems, and in the homes of ordinary people, it’s difficult to remove a martyr mentality.
Fortunately, Israel has proven to be a superior moral and military authority, striking at the heart of the institutions, governing structures, and militant leadership that hold this devilish command system together. It is an indictment of the politics of the broader Middle East that universal freedoms, personal liberties, and tolerance are in scant supply. If it’s not a theocratic regime, a monarchy, or an autocracy ruling a country in the region, it’s likely to fall apart. The people have been primed by eons of repressive rule to toe the line. From Egypt to Qatar, Gaza/West Bank to Iran, Syria to Jordan, Bahrain to Kuwait, much of the governing class fits a similar model. It’s the entrenched rule of a few over many, and there is little flexibility afforded to citizens in these countries.
As such, religion, being the opiate of the masses, plays an outsized role in the education of the people. Besides internal divisions between Sunnis and Shias, there is an ever-growing number of clans, tribes, sects, and outliers across the religious, political, and ideological spectrum. There are radicals, and there are extreme radicals, moderates, liberals, and a political agglomeration of all sorts, much like other countries. It’s the clerics that teach the people, and their overwhelming message is one that is intolerant of Israel, Jews, Christians, and America.
The ruling class reigns supreme with an iron fist and a zero tolerance for dissent. These totalitarian-style regimes dominate in the Middle East, particularly in Iran, where protest is met with execution on a mass scale. We saw this in January 2026, again in February, and again in March. Such is the nature of the beast. The Iranian Revolutionary Guards, the Council of Clerics, and the entire command structure of the Islamic Republic of Iran rule in much the same way as the National Socialist German Workers Party ruled over Germany from 1933 to 1945.
Propaganda is one of their favorite weapons of war, and misinformation is their trump card. The Iranian regime delivers nothing but blatant deception to its people. It is an effective mechanism for enraging supporters, sycophants, and acolytes worldwide. These lone wolf terror attacks are heavily inspired by the propaganda of the Islamic Republic of Iran. To date, Israel and the United States have delivered tens of thousands of munitions and heavy ordnance to targets across Iran.
The infrastructure has been obliterated; the Air Force, Navy, air defenses, satellites, nuclear programs, and land-based infrastructure have been largely demolished. But the ideological underpinnings of their hatred remain firmly entrenched in the minds of the regime’s supporters. We can draw parallels between the determination of Hamas and Hezbollah and the fierce resistance being put up by the Islamic Republic of Iran.
It is clear that military maneuvers can have a devastating impact on the tentacles of the octopus, but we need to win over the minds of the millions of moderates to ultimately topple this brutal regime. The people don’t stand a chance if they are unarmed and subject to being executed en masse by the Basij. They will need assistance in the form of weapons, leadership, and guidance from external power brokers.
Perhaps an alliance of willing Middle Eastern nations could achieve this end? For now, the best that the coalition allies can achieve is widespread destruction of the weapons of war that this regime possesses. Beyond that, it will be up to the people to topple this brutal dictatorship and its 47 years of tyranny. Nobody has a definitive answer either way, since Iranian resistance is now decentralized and being meted out by disparate guerrilla groups under the broader umbrella of Islamic resistance.
