“As a great historian, Victor Davis Hanson makes the ‘Case For President Trump’ with unique insights and historic understanding and clarity. A must read for everyone who supports the president or wants to understand this moment in history.” Newt Gingrich
The subject book was published on March 5, 2019. Trump alone saw a political opportunity in defending the working people of America’s interior whom the coastal elite of both parties had come to scorn, Hanson argues. And Trump alone had the instincts and energy to pursue this opening to victory, dismantle a corrupt old order, and bring long overdue policy changes at home and abroad. We could not survive a series of presidencies as volatile as Trump’s. But after decades of drift, America needs the outsider Trump to do what normal politicians would not and could not do.
Why then, with such credentials, did President Trump have to face an unprecedented volume of hatred for 4 years? On March 10, 2022, Leader published, “Why Democrats hate former President Trump” by Rep. Glenn Gruenhagen. The video of his speech from the infamous rally appears on his Facebook page. He addresses a primary reason for the hatred and vitriol from Democrat leaders towards President Donald Trump.
Gruenhagen draws attention to Big tech, along with their billionaire/millionaire Democrat donors, who support a globalist agenda. Under the Obama/Biden Administration this agenda transferred millions of US jobs overseas to countries like China in order to use cheap slave labor for economic gain. President Trump’s “America First” agenda opposed this globalist agenda and transferred millions of jobs back to the US.
Without delay Biden reversed the process as well as every other item, from border control of illegal immigration, suspended all construction of the Keystone Pipeline and several other executive orders.
Clearly, in all of the above, Democrat lawmakers are being influenced by Communist/Marxist sympathizers like Bernie Sanders and Congresswoman AOC, who support Venezuela’s Communist Government policies.
There is nothing surprising in Gruenhagen’s observations. Since biblical times, hatred of those who differ is rather common.
In his letter to The Times of April 6, 2022, Gary B. Hulsey, asks the question, “What drives Trump haters? He specifically questions, “Why the continued hate of private citizen Trump?” Despite his having a huge loyal following, the establishment and the opposition party fear him. Their concerns maybe having too much influence with the candidates or what if he were to return. Why the hatred with a vengeance?
The Health Policy Brief of November 9, 2020 addresses,” Hate Motivated Behavior: Impacts, Risk Factors and Interventions.” As regards, the issues pertaining to this subject matter, the most relevant statement, is as follows:
Experiences of hate are associated with poor emotional well-being such as feelings of anger, shame and fear. Moreover, victims tend to experience several ailments including depression.
Following the many questions which arose after 9/11, Lee Harris authored 2 books, “Civilization and its Enemies” and “The Suicide of Reason”. Harris explained that the reason for the questions and the failure to find answers was that we in the West had forgotten the concept of an enemy.
At the heart of liberal democratic politics is the concept of the rational actor, who judges acts by their consequences and chooses the maximal option. In the real world, not everyone is a liberal democrat. An enemy is “someone who is willing to die in order to kill you. And while it is true that the enemy always hates us for a reason, it is his reason, not ours.” He sees a different world from ours, and in that world, we are the enemy. Why do they hate Trump? They hate him because he is their enemy.
What the “Shifty” Schiff’s , the Pelosi’s, the Biden’s and the Kamala Harris have done to Trump have, at times, driven him into depression. Hence, some of the unfortunate misjudgments become explainable. One which comes to mind was his adamant attempt to have Vice President Mike Pence ignore the law in his role of inaugurating Joe Biden as President.
A consideration of David Brooks bestselling book, “The Road to Character is helpful in understanding Trump’s irrational behavior despite his major accomplishments. In addition thereto , the statement, “Moreover, victims tend to experience poor mental health, including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress and suicidal behavior” is reported in a study on “Hate Motivated Behavior: Impacts, Risk Factors and Interventions.”[Robert Wood Johnson Foundation]
Rabbi Berel Wein’s Weekly Blog on the subject of “Hatred” is most instructive as it includes a reference to President Trump. He draws attention to the existence of hatred in the political societies of many countries in the word and notes that hatred of others has become the rallying point for justifying the policies and opinions of ideological and political parties, groups and opponents.
Further, Rabbi Wein comments on the completely irrational behavior of much of the American media “regarding a duly elected president [Trump]as bordering on the pathologically insane.” He makes the point, in his opinion, that no president since Abraham Lincoln has been so subjected to rejection and hatred, no matter whatever policies or appointments are created.
Powerline June 17, 2022: Heading Towards the Abyss by David Horowitz. In the body of this lengthy Op-Ed, we find yet another pertinent extract on President Trump:
“The Democrats are now a national lynch mob.” They have spent the last 70 years in one attempt after another to destroy a president whose political signature is ‘America 1st’, by libeling him, his supporters and the country they love as ‘White Supremacist’ and ‘Systemically Racist’, when there is no sound basis for either charge.
“They have broken precedent, tradition, protocol, and the law, and violated the Constitution to hang Donald Trump and demonize his supporters as ‘domestic terrorists’ and ‘insurrectionists’- traitors -all in order to advance radical policies that have destroyed America’s borders, triggered record crime waves in American cities, and blown up the best economy in our lifetimes.
Is it any wonder that at times, his judgment lapses, suggesting an element of depression. Indeed, much of the past has resurfaced. The Jewish Press of NY posted “Liberalism, Disease of the Mind, Sickness of the Soul ” by Donny Fuchs on Dec, 7, 2015. Paragraph by paragraphs it reads as if it had been written today. It discusses the very environment in which Trump had to perform only recently. Consider a mere sampling:
“Liberalism in the current usage of the term is an ideology of pseudo-moralism, where principles are twisted and altered on a whim, to satisfy the latest version of political correctness and societal perception.—–The innocent are guilty—Predators become victims—–Society eats itself. How else to explain the support many American liberals still have for ‘Planned Parenthood’ even in the wake of numerous documenting monstrous actions?”
On October 6, 2021, the Pew Center released, “Two-thirds of Republicans want Trump to retain major political role; 44% want him to run again in 2024.” by Amina Dunn. While hers is very detailed, admittedly it was published much before the current Pelosi road show.
