Not to give him time to enjoy writing his memoirs
The only good reason for Bibi getting a pardon is that he’s indispensable for the many wars Israel has on its hands. It’s ridiculous and opportunistic to say that he should be pardoned in exchange for leaving politics.
I want the debate to shift from why a pardon to why to continue the trials.
His trials are ridiculous. First, many years of accusations, and only later his points of view are considered. That’s aiming for justice? You don’t fool me.
Some claim that pardoning a PM violates equality before the law. But that’s untrue if the many are right that he’s prosecuted because he’s PM.
It would be a pity not to see these trials end in acquittals. Yet, who really cares? Those who hate him did so long before he was charged. And those who adore him will do so, whatever the judges rule.
He should be acquitted because these trials, being irrelevant, should never have started. So many cases are not heard because they lack public interest. He was indicted because he’s hated. But that doesn’t make his prosecution relevant. Their triviality is an embarrassment. It’s claimed he should not have accepted too many gifts from friends who might have wanted favors in return. Everyone is free to conspire against him in the news, but he should ‘behave’? Leaders of other nations are prosecuted because they stole millions or promoted family members to power.
The opposition against his pardon and politics is often so over the top that I must suspect that some of these opponents secretly try to strengthen Netanyahu’s case. (See the plot of 1957 Witness for the Prosecution.)
Let’s stop judging Bibi negatively. What right do journalists and news consumers have to sit in the chair of the judges? Let’s talk instead about how we can restore Israeli law to have at least the appearance of justice.
Compared to Jewish Law, Israel’s British Law is absurd. One of my lawyers once said, ‘After 2000 years, we still study the Mishna, while the decades of Israeli jurisprudence became irrelevant the day of their rulings.’
Almost all rape cases are closed and not prosecuted. That must be tackled.
Yes, Mr. President, this time, Trump is right. Acquit Bibi for the Law’s sake.

Like most of his readers, he believes in being friendly, respectful, and loyal. However, if you think those are his absolute top priorities, you might end up disappointed. His first loyalty is to the truth. He agrees that in a post-truth world, that's irrelevant, but then this is for the record. He will try to stay within the limits of democratic and Jewish law, but he won't lie to support opinions or people when don't deserve that. (Yet, we all make honest mistakes, which is just fine and does not justify losing support.) He admits that he sometimes exaggerates to make a point, which could have him come across as nasty, while in actuality, he's quite a lovely person to interact with. Chronologically, his most influential teachers are his parents, Nico (natan) van Zuiden and Betty (beisye) Nieweg, Wim Kan, Mozart, Harvey Jackins, Marshal Rosenberg, Reb Shlomo Carlebach, and, lehavdil bein chayim lechayim, Rabbi Dr. Natan Lopes Cardozo, Rav Zev Leff, and Rav Meir Lubin. This short list doesn't mean to disrespect others who taught him a lot or a little. One of his rabbis calls him Mr. Innovation [Ish haChidushim]. Yet, his originalities seem to root deeply in traditional Judaism, though they may grow in unexpected directions. In fact, he claims he's modernizing nothing. Rather, mainly basing himself on the basic Hebrew Torah text, he tries to rediscover classical Jewish thought almost lost in thousands of years of stifling Gentile domination and Jewish assimilation.
