Winnipeg Walks with Israel

Today is the third anniversary of Oct. 7, 2023, when Islamic terrorists crossed the border from Gaza and butchered nearly 1,200 people in Israel. It was the deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust. More than 200 others were also taken as hostages. Seven Canadians were among those killed and abducted.
Hundreds of members of Winnipeg’s Jewish community, along with allies, took part in “Marking October 7th: Walk for Israel and Gathering.” Participants carried Israeli flags as they walked.
Since Oct.7th there has been a sharp rise in antisemitism across Canada. B’nai Brith recorded a record 6,800 antisemitic incidents in 2025, which was a 146% increase from 2022, the last full year before the attack. The organization also reported that by mid-July, violent antisemitic incidents in 2026 had already more than doubled the total for all of 2025. Statistics Canada reported that police-reported hate crimes targeting Jews rose 71% since 2023.
Police and government officials have followed through on their promises of increased security for Winnipeg’s Jewish community, with a visible police presence along the route. The event took place without incident, and no counter-protesters were present.
