Just make a national unity government already!
As the accompanying new Ayin Tova Cartoon shows, our political leaders should stop acting like children.
The heads of the major centrist Zionist parties must stop whining, put on their big-boy pants, and finally sit down to compromise. Together, they would command a solid majority of 75 out of 120 Knesset seats. That is more than enough to build a stable government backed by a broad consensus — one capable of steering the country safely through rough times.
These 75 seats represent over 60% of the Israeli voting public, and an even greater share of the citizens who actively work for, defend, and support this country.
Other Zionist-oriented parties could bring an additional 6 to 19 seats to the table. But just like everyone else, they must abandon the usual blackmail, bribes, and ego-stroking that have plagued past coalitions. Only then can a new era truly begin.
This vision might sound utopian, but it is entirely possible.
Imagine the immense feeling of national unity if we built such a broad, resilient coalition. It’s time to make this happen.
