Did you hear Bibi’s speech to Congress? (Spoiler: It was powerful)
To Israel: We’ll destroy our enemies and bring our soldiers and hostages home to safety. To the US: Stand with us to end up on the right side of history
I tried to count the standing ovations, but I lost track.
It seems the fourth time is a charm. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu just gave his fourth speech before a joint session of the United States Congress at the invitation of Israel’s good friend, Speaker Mike Johnson.
Bibi — we are grateful for your leadership at this time, and we are proud. Proud of your elegance, your eloquent English, your ability to represent our Jewish state around the world with determination and poise. You did not forget our brave soldiers and their “boundless courage,” our displaced families, and our precious hostages in Hamas captivity who must be freed right now.
You highlighted the difference between barbarism and civilization, those who seek death vs. those who sanctify life. Monsters, you said, whom President Biden called, back in October, “sheer evil.”
Indeed, our Jewish nation has risen like lions. Our IDF soldiers fight like lions, “the lions of Judah.” We have suddenly, and with a distinct clarity, become one family. While we have just witnessed an overwhelming show of support from our ally, the United States of America, we know that we must rely on ourselves.
Yes, October 7th was proportionally like 20 “9/11″s for the US. We have suffered terribly at the hands of terrorists and now we are threatened on all our borders. “Never again must never be an empty promise. And after October 7th: Never again is now.” We will not apologize. October gave us a clarity we have not known before, and we will not bend to our detractors nor cease our war against pure evil.
We would like America to know we are fighting a war for all of us. That we must be given unconditional support and the weapons necessary to do so. But that is not the point. What’s important is that our prime minister has just reminded the free world that we Jews are no longer the victims. We are taking our future in our hands and defending all that we hold true. We have the moral high ground and we will stay there, with pride and the knowledge that history is on our side.
Yes, we owe a debt of gratitude to the US for standing with us — with ovations and cheers, and with legislation and arms. But we — and only we — know what is right. Clarity begins, indeed, with knowing the difference between good and evil. I pray that our leaders always continue to act accordingly. Our friends will come around, they will recognize strength and line up with us, if we do the right thing, consistently.
The prime minister presented a concept that he has called “The Abraham Alliance,” an offer to countries supporting these values to join together in perhaps a similar way that NATO did, in the aftermath of World War II, for protection and collaboration.
With God’s help, we will destroy our enemies, return safety to our borders, and bring our soldiers and hostages home to safety. Stand together with us now. Have our backs so you can end up on the right side of history.
Take these words with you, from our prime minister, and let them lead you today and always: no matter how difficult the road, we will defend our land. We will defend our people. We will bring victory of life over death, and of good over evil.
Together, and for all that is good, we will win.
