Reasons Why the World Needs and Should Fight for Israel

Israel’s 75th anniversary marked the Jewish nation’s rebirth in its ancient ancestral homeland. I would like to review why it’s essential for all people of goodwill to defend Israel’s reputation against those who seek to spread lies and besmirch the miraculous, against all odds, resurrection of the Jewish commonwealth following a 2,000-year diaspora.

No other nation has ever been forced out of its homeland and returned to rebuild it. The Jewish people’s extremely strong attachment to the land of their ancestors never faded despite the passing of twenty centuries and persecution more severe and prolonged than any nation has ever suffered. The nations that had attacked and dispersed ancient Israel in antiquity are long gone, but the Jewish people have survived. With the astonishing rebirth of Israel, its people speak the same language, believe in the same God, and share the same morals and values of the ethical monotheism that they gifted to humanity millennia ago.

Israel is a beacon of democracy, stability and progress in a volatile region of the world, yet it is the only nation on earth whose right to exist is questioned and is held to an extremely high double standard: a standard that no other nation has ever attained. As with all countries, Israel is not perfect and has made mistakes, but it is a morally good country. Despite being embattled and needing to incessantly fight the persistent evil of antisemitism, Israel remains committed to its core values of democracy, peace, and justice. It is a country where everyone, regardless of their religion, race, ethnicity, gender, or sexual preference, has equal rights and opportunities. Israel is a vibrant democracy that upholds the rule of law and respects human rights, unlike all other middle-eastern countries. Protecting these values are at the core of every modern democracy. It’s essential for all lovers of these values to support and aid Israel.

Even though Israel is a tiny country which is forced every day to fight enemies who wish to destroy it along with its people, it has managed to become a world leader in many fields that work to improve the world. The list of Israel’s very significant contributions is long and varied, including science, agriculture, medicine, technology, and culture. Supporting Israel is not only a moral imperative but also is in the best interest of the international community.

Israel is a vital strategic ally of the United States and other Western countries. With them, it shares most of the same values and interests and is needed to help in fighting terrorism and other threats to global security. As the only true democracy in the Middle East, where freedom of speech, religion, and press are upheld, it acts as a stabilizing force to the region. Israel has also been very instrumental in training foreign security forces to fight terrorism and has developed cutting-edge technologies that have been useful in detecting and preventing terrorist attacks. Israel’s intelligence agencies are among the best in the world and have helped thwart numerous terrorist attacks around the globe.

Additionally, Israel has made significant contributions to the world in terms of lifesaving support, particularly in times of crisis. Israel sends humanitarian aid to countries around the world facing natural disasters, including earthquakes, floods, and hurricanes. Moreover, Israel has been at the forefront of providing emergency medical assistance in conflict zones, including Syria and Gaza.

It’s also vital to recognize the Jewish people’s historic claim to their homeland. Jews have had a continuous presence in the Holy Land for nearly 4,000 years. When their homeland was conquered and laid waste by the Roman’s 2,000 years ago, Jews continued to live there in smaller numbers until modern Israel’s rebirth. Since the Roman conquest, no other sovereign nation had been established within its borders.

Only because of Israel’s existence, the last 75 years has seen the least violence and persecution against world Jewry since King David’s time. Israel is the only Jewish homeland. It has been, and continues to be, the only Jewish refuge in the world to make sure that the words “never again” do not ring hollow. As long as Israel remains strong, it gives assurance that another Holocaust cannot reoccur.

Let us all stand up for Israel and defend its reputation against a hostile world media and others who seek to spread lies and misinformation. Supporting Israel is not only a moral imperative but also a strategic necessity. By supporting Israel, we support democracy, progress and world stability. Let us stand with Israel on its 75th anniversary and show our unwavering support for this great nation that has made, and will continue to make, significant contributions to the world.
